New Oakley Visors?

Recommended Posts

Haha looks like I'll be buying some powdered t-shirt dye soon....and a cheap visor(if thats possible). For some reason I think I might try red.....sounds ridiculous but nobody else has a red visor. They come in blue and yellow....shit why not red or green. I'll let you guys know how it works. My guess is I'll be down 50 bucks and I'll have a bubbly red plastic mess in my trashcan.

Hejduk makes green visors.

Red ore orange can be cool, but i just ordered a Hejdul MHX bronze and a blue MH-300 to a teammate. In ski sports orange has been don fore years so maybe hockey can use it to.

They have this spray on window tint that people use for car windows that I found. I'm gonna do a chrome base coat and a candle apple red finish. A lot of guys use it on tail lights for cars and stuff. I'm dying to have a visor tinted red like the one Ovy had at the ASG.

Yeah, I hear vision is overrated in hockey anyway.

haha, yeah. no matter how crappy your vision goes, as long as you stand out with brightcolor visor and no talent cos you cant see sh*t :)

Outside of pro rinks there aren't too many rinks where tinting would even be the slightest bit necessary, plus a few which tinting would make you feel like you were skating in the dark.

Yeah, I hear vision is overrated in hockey anyway.

But.....but........it looks so cool.

If you can't stand out on talent alone, stand out in any way you can.

DS, do you know if this works with oakley visors? they're finicky as hell when it comes to using cleaning solutions... I'd be wary of trying dye on it for fear of crystallizing it.

Tried it on two visors today, one Oakley, one Itech. The Itech one has worked out ok, altho it is a bit blotchy in places as the film inside was damaged beforehand.

The Oakley one, well, the dye just ran of it and straight down the sink. Its perfectly clear again.

Will post pictures later!

I agree that it's not necessary, this has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard

Some pictures as promised (sorry about the quailty, they were taken on my phone.

As you can see in the first photo the dye didn't submerge itself in all of the visor. I THINK this is to do with the damaged fog coating on the inside of this visor, it was an old one which I broke last season. If it was to redo this with a new visor I think it would have worked perfectly.

As for dye, I just used a regular clothes dye called Dylon.

Is it possible to see through it clearly? I was going to do this but I was afraid of the dye being translucent. And did you use just normal powdered dye?

Yeah I just used normal powdered dye. It is still possible to see through it pretty clearly, altho I wouldnt recomend using it in a dark rink.

Doesn't look bad, looks grapey.

I can just hear the ribbing now...

"But Daddy, I want an Oompa Loompa NOW!"

Thats the first thing I thought once I put it on my helmet. I was never actually planning on wearing it, just thought I would try it out for a laugh. Perhaps Navy wasn't the best colour to do it!!
