CCM v40 Blades

Recommended Posts

I did a search on this, but it seems most people use these blades mostly for roller hockey.

I have an old TPS Genesis shaft that I was going to break out for games this weekend. We are playing against a really physical team and the last 2 times we played them, I(they actually) broke an M-1 shaft I was using and the next time I broke a vapor XX OPS. I figured I'd use this shaft this week because I can't it getting broken, and if it does, It won't be a big deal.

My Genesis shaft is X-stiff and I swear I could jack up my car with that thing. Anyway, I picked up a v40 blade for $20(US) and I was wondering if anyone has used them for ice.

I wanted a short hosel blade, but, this thing looks real thin. Any info regarding durability, feel etc.. would be appreciated thanks.

I never had a V40 but I still have a V60 Recchi blade that has taken more punishment than Milli Vanilli. It has been stepped on, fallen upon, skate blades, you name it... On ice the darn things are near indestructable. The hosel will snap before the blade goes.

Now as for Vector 120 blade...crap.

Does anyone know of any short hosel Lidstrom clones?

I looked at the Lecavier, but I can't do a 6 lie.

To my knowledge Easton doesn't make any short hosel blades, do they?

I might look for a sherwood Crosby. I think they have some short hosel blades. Anything else?

Do you mean short hosel standard or tapered?

Short hosel standard. Preferably wood. I know I can get synergy II or synth blades in Lidstrom pattern(by the way I meant Lidstrom not Lindstrom in my original post  )

I guess the 3k blades are short hosel, I could look for a Pronger.

wait for the new ST blade.

I'll prolly check that blade out, when it's avail., but I prefer wood blades or hybrids. Blade weight is not at the top of my priority list and I find that most comp. blades last me about as long as it takes for a wood blade to go soft.

I mean they(comp.blades) definately have their advantages, and sometimes I'll use the odd one here and there, but I ussually just stick with wood.

Most guys I play with and against won't even use a 2 piece, nevermind a wood blade. They're all about the Synergys and Stealths, they think I'm kind of eccentric :P .

i'm a big fan of composite blades myself and have mostly two-pieces but I'm thinking about starting to use some wood blades. Luckily I got a couple ones in this trade I made last week. Unfortunatly the trade was for a few cut OPS to fit tapered blades and the blades are standard. I'd flip them but I'm kind of anal about that kind of stuff. :(

My issue with wood blades has always been the weight of them but with some of these newer ones they are getting lighter so the combos don't come out too blade heavy.

P.S. My edit didn't take the first time for some reason so i had to re-edit my post above. I just forgot to mention that the ST was composite, which you already knew. ;)

I've got a Thornton V40 and it weighs in on the heavy side (170g) - I'm sure it's due to the composition of the blade, as it's not really a wood blade. One of my lightest standard blades is a TPS ExtraXLite bwoody. Even with a slightly longer than average hosel, it was 157g, the same as a TPS PTC I have. The only lighter one I have is a Pro-Return CCM composite, at 155g.
