That's one of his curves. I've personally seen two different curves of his and I've seen pictures of probably 3 different mid/toe curves and one heel.

*I'd like to add that I'm refering to that as a mid even though it's a heel because most people would consider that a mid or a toe.

Good Point. I forgot to add that in my post. That's only one of Kovies curves.

I read your post. OK, well I'll say I regret ever saying anything b/c I don't care to have this turn in to a stupid message board fight..

Maybe I'm wrong, who knows. I don't get why someone would think the Smyth is Kovalchuk's pro curve, they're not the same at all

the smyth blades are in fact one of kovalchuks pro curvves, dick

Its hard to gauge because its right handed, but the smyths ive seen all looked very similar to that,

He's saying it's on the AK27 which is a stick named after Alex KOValev... so apparently, a retail Smyth blade is in fact a Kovalchuk pattern... that's what he's saying anyway, and it's only on the AK27... I don't really care, but it doesn't make any sense, and even if it did say KOV that doesn't mean anything. It's just an assumption, and a poor one at that

And like i said, He has SEEN a lot of pro-stock sticks. Not just assumed. ;)

Buzz, where did you see an AK27 Smyth blade? (or is it prostock?) Warrior doesn't list the Smyth as available for AK27 blades - only Dolomite blades and most of their OPS. It's not listed in their 2006 or 2007 catalogues as being available for AK27's. I'd love to get a couple of them, if they're available.

I doubt they say KOV anywhere on them. Funny nobody else knows about this, sounds more like someone is wrong and trying to save face. If you have a blade with that on it, post us a picture...

I've never bashed anyone in here but you're an ignorant dumbass. If kovalchuk was to use that curve exclusively he would be penalized like a mofo for it. He has many curves so that in case of a curve check he can get away with it. I'm assuming the smyth is one of kovie's 'legal' curves. Here's a pic of my dolomite blade.

I thought the Kovalchuk pro stock was a little more deeper, and more of a swank in the toe than the Smyth retail...at least the pics, and stick I've seen. But then again, I've never had the 2 together to compare.

i have a few smyth dolo's & a kovalchuk pro stock. def more at the toe & a deeper curve on the kovy. but yes, there are atleast 3 known kovalchuk pro stock curves going around.

Im talking AK27 blades, and ive seen them labeled as follows:

Weight - DRU - Drury Pro

Smyth - KOV - Kovalchuk pro

Federov - MOD - Modano retail

Draper - NT3 - Nke Toe 3 (Legwand)

Jovanovski - NH2 - Nike Heel 2 - Brind'Amour

i'm confused too. because i've never seen a smyth ak47 retail. if they did, i never would've had to buy a dolo shaft, i would've just bought a smyth & stuck it in my easton shaft.

I have a question:

What would one do with a curve like that?

I'd assume that backhanders would be all but impossible, I can't see it helping slappers.

Does it make your wristers move like a Brad Lidge slider?

I guess stick-handling might be fun.

Honsetly, I don't follow Atlanta, so I'm really not all that familiar w/Kovy's game.

I don't think Kovalchuk has ever used his backhand.

All Warrior has done is make a retail version of a pro curve. It's been done before. Easton released the Drury retail which was a copy of Yzerman's real curve. So the Smyth retail is a clone of Kovy's pro blade.

There may be differences here and there as it seems like there are a ton of different Pro-Stock Kovalchuk Warriors out there (perhaps some of the old "legal" versions and some of his new revised NHL legal patterns since the curve ban was relaxed).

you can find a pic of the smyth curve at the warrior catalogue or go to www.warriorhockey.com

i believe there was a thread on his curve a few days ago so, give the search a try i wouldn't be surprised if there are tons of threads about his curve.

I was tryign to dig a little deeper into this mystery, so i went to hockey monkey to check out what Warrior considers the kovalchuk blade to be "close to" and was suprised to see that they don't have any of his prostocks at all. This just made me a little curious and i was wondering where you guys with these kovy prostocks got yours from
