Flex question

Recommended Posts

How much difference do you think I would feel if I went from a CCM regular flex to a CCM stiff flex, especially if they were the same exact length? I don't take many slap shots at all, just hard wrist shots. My LHS has got a Vector 120 on clearance for really cheap, but it is a stiff flex, and I've been using a Vector 8 regular flex. What do you think?

do you feel your stick flexing a lot with the regular?

I'm familiar with the flex chart, but thats more for comparing sticks to each other. How much would I feel in a game situation?

10%-15%

None of us can tell you how it's going to work for you or how much you're going to "feel" the difference in a game. If you don't feel a difference, you're using a stick that's too stiff already.

Kinda OT, but I don't think it necessitated another topic as it is a flex question: Chadd, I think I remember you mentioning a break-in period for some of your TPS sticks, about how long did it take for them to soften up a little bit?

If you take hardly any slap shots then you'd probably be wasting your money. Chances are your wrister will suffer and your slapper will improve, but since you don't take slappers it won't matter. I've got a beauty Nike Zero-G that sits in the corner because its too damn stiff; my slapper is great but my wrist shot flutters all over the place.

But, the flip side is maybe you've got a really strong upper body, and you'll be able to flex the stiff flex. If you're able to muscle a stiff flex around then it could improve both shots. Just be honest with yourself how powerful (and heavy) your upper body is.

I wonder what the flex is on the old Easton aluminums? I used two from my junior days in my last game. The Greztky 99 was destroyed after one wrister. The blade totally lost it's bonding with the shaft. Something is definitely warped now.

The second one, a pink/red H9000 was terrible. Way too much flex on two wristers. Oh well, time to retire the two for good.

WTF does this have to do with anything? You might want to read the thread on the front page called "A word from our sponsors". This post is pretty much what they're talking about.

Depends on the stick, but it would take a while. I haven't tried any of the new Chinese stuff though.
