Lapierre is worthless... they both should have been fined... and Emery should have received 2 games... Maybe Lapierre too... You can't go at someones head or face... but he comes down on Emery's wrist just as hard if not harder than Emery hits Lapierre, and it wasn't too conspicuous either... I think it's hilarious that Crosby's a diver and whiner for Lapierre spearing him in the gut, and then Lapierre gets hit IN THE SHIELD! and he goes down grabbing his face like he broke his nose... After watching it repeatedly, it looks like the heel of Emery's stick maybe catches his chin, but not with much force. There have been much worse high sticks go without suspension...

Its funny how Lapierre turned his face in the direction of the stick after he was hit. Most people wouldn't do that.

Lapierre simply tripped on the Ottawa player. And maybe he did not injure Lapierre so bad but it's the intention that counts and that is what the NHL didn't like. And for the Crosby incident, I gave the kid a good 8,5 for the diving. You don't go down that fast and seem so injured when you get the end of the stick in the stomach (and not a spearing) on a regular faceoff. There was absolutly no intentions on Lapierre's part on the play. When you take a faceoff you don't grab your stick on the end, you put your hands on the 1/3 close to the blade and where the tape starts and you try to turn your back around to the opposing player, it's a normal motion, he did not give the stabbing swing and try to hit Crosby with the end of his stick. More and more because of this childish acting by Crosby and him embelissing everything that happens around him, I'm starting to like Ovy even though I have a Crosby jersey in my closet.

a bit offtopic yes but i saw an compilation of crosbys actingskills at canal+ sport. i mean MAN what an sissie, i have always hated the way that he play and seeing that compilation made my bloodpressure go way up off the chart.

Wow, watch the video again... talk about intention, he clearly comes down on Emery's arm with more force than just the momentum carrying him towards the net. he makes no effort to keep from running into the goaltender and makes a clear downward slash on his wrist. Lapierre is not a quality hockey player and tries to affect the game in other ways such as slashing goalies in the wrist. Montreal is tanking anyway so it doesn't matter i guess. But from a center who has been speared more than once, accident or not, if it gets you below the shoulder pads, you're going to feel it, even if it doesn't look like much. I dont know where it hit him, above or below the chest, but a spear is a spear, and the intent was there, just like it was on the slash to Emery's wrist. All my opinion, but i think at least in this latest incident, the evidence doesn't point in his favor. All of that said, Emery still deserved the suspension, i just don't think Lapierre is innocent by any means...

Or even the post and a bit of Lapierre, which takes all the power away which coukd hurt him. Nevertheless, the "thought" of hitting someone in the face with a stick is worth a suspension, even tho it wasnt that intentional.

and Ray Emery better hope Martin Gerber doesn't stand on his head, or he'll lose starts on top of the 3 he's losing to suspension.

Emery just said that he wanted to hit Lapierre with his stick but not that high. Still he had the intention to do it, but I cannot see how Lapierre would intentionaly run into Emery in the video, clearly he tripped while going over the D.

On another point, Lapierre talked about how he wasn't going to fight a goalie, etc and so on and on the tsn discussion a guy was talking about how dumb Emery was for expecting a fight... but look what I found:

Sens/Philly (AHL) later that year Sens/Philly (NHL) had a brawl as well...I'd have to double check to see if Emery was up when the second one happened.

A) Continue to run Emery knowing you're getting under his skin, or;

B) Don't run Emery because you fear the consequences of getting a stick up side the head?

How about C) Don't run Emery because Murray is smart enough to start McGrattan against crease crashing teams. I like that answer best.
