Blue Jackets Issued....

Recommended Posts

Today I was skating at one the local rinks here in Columbus and in the "pro" shop they have "Blue Jacket issued" elbow pads. The guy was not sure what it meant, but they are Jofa 8066 and another Jofa model. They are labeled: "Center Ice Authentics. The Jackets are having an equipment sale tomorrow I think and the rink is affiliated with the Jackets. I thought the pro model Jofas where the 9040s.

Are these an older model?

This link is to a posting of the 8066, but these apparently are St. Louis Blues Issued.

Jofa had the exclusive license to display the NHL logo on their pads.

Even the retails have said tag. However, if the pad caps are leather-wrapped and made in Sweden, they are pro issue. The retails don't have the leather, and are made in the Orient.

Yes, the Chiller Ice Rinks in Columbus are strongly affiliated with the Blue Jackets. I believe there's some sort of ownership involvement by the Blue Jackets.

As far as the equipment, I bow before JR's expertise.

I picked up a pair of pro issued Jofas with the leather. Best elbow pads ever.

A buddy looking for equipment went up and got a pair, but that was the only kind of equipment they had he said. He said they were about 2 years old, pulled from storage, but since he's getting into it for the first time in 2 years it was a decent deal for him. Thanks for the heads up.

They must be pulling all sorta stuff from storage. Was reading they found one last pair of those old Tacks for Adam Foote...so it'll be a little while longer before he must switch to something new.

I did not mean to imply that the North store had anything more than the elbow pads. I am breaking out my new elbow pads in my game today. I am pretty sure I will not be any better :)

I have a pair if the 9144 PRO's and love'em. They are EXACTLY how JR explaned SWEED made.
