Performance Pants-Compression Shorts

Recommended Posts

Which brand and style do you prefer of the shorts and or pants. I'm thinking of ordering the Shock Doc Compression Hockey Jock Pant but was wanting some feedback first. I have been wearing cheap shorts and was wanting to get a pair of either quality pants or shorts.

WSI has always worked for me. They had a bad run of product about 5 years ago but the newer stuff is really solid.

I use the Itech lock jock. The shorts are fairly good but the cup that it comes with is crap. It is too curved and the end of the cup hits a guy in a most uncomfortable spot.

I use the shorts but one of the guys on my team has been using the pants for two years. I only wear pants when I ref and I've switched to Puckskin for all of my non-jock use.

Maybe Granholm can help ya with that.

Thanks for the feedback though.

have you tried looking into the new silver embedded materials that are coming out to hold down the funk? ShockDoctor has a whole line of under gear coming out w/ silver embedded fabric.

Using these Nike Hockey Dri Fit Compression Pants right now and they are great. The material is a mix of cotton/polyester so its soft. The great thing about it is it doesn't have that funky smell that most compression shirts/pants hold after some use.

Puckskin has had that for a couple years now.

I don't know if this goes for the compression gear by ShockDoctor as well, but when I tried to order the loose shorts, I ordered according to the size chart shown and when they came, fit as tight as compression shorts. I wear 32-34 pants and went with Large, so if I were to ever go ShockDoctor again, I'd definatly go a size up. I did also find the flex cup to be way uncomfortable. For now I just stuck with my WSI compression jock.

It's all old school for me. Stanfields longjohns, and one of the jock/garter belt combos that somewhat resembles lingerie (if it were made for a man, and so beat up that the foul stench was the only thing holding it together).

I ended up with the Under Armour compression pants... I didn't feel like waiting for a compression/jock combo to come in the mail, and I had a Sports Authority giftcard. A little over priced... I paid $60 for the compression pants, where if I was a little patient, I could have ordered the Shock Doctor Basix compresssion/jock combo for $31 + shipping.

The downside to having the UA is I still have to wear my mesh Easton jock/garter with my hockey equipment.

The plus side to it, is I've worn them under some basketball shorts and gone running while it's pretty cold out... and they're done the trick. I'm not really a fan of jogging with a cup on.

so it basically depends on what you'll use it for... if it's strictly hockey, I'd say go with the Shock Doc... but if it's something you'd throw under a basketball short, and play some ball or go for a run... I'd go with a standard compression pant or short.

I tried compression jock shorts and didn't like how the cup just covered my junk, but didn't necessarily hug and protect them. So I switched back to my Itech Jock Shorts and couldn't be happier.

In fact...I'm wearing them right now..........

I've had SD, Itech, and WSI. WSI is by far the best so far. The SD started to fall apart in a year. The Itech didn't make it two games.

what is the point of paying 60$ for compression short?

I can see the idea behind the compression pants and/or shirt, but only the short? can't you just wear a tight boxer and save yourselft 50$ ??

The one jock I loved was my Bauer which was like a compression short with a loose short over it with the velcro patches for socks. I used that thing till my thighs were too big for the inner short, then I just cut them up the side to fit, then the velcro wore too much to hold socks, it was a sad day. Then I moved to my WSI compression but to this day I still use the same cup that came in those Bauer shorts, which was like 10 years ago, and even though it is small and I have to cram myself into it, its the only cup I feel comfortable playing with and doesn't get in my way. My ShockDoctor Flex cup feels way too long, depth wise fine, but it extends too far down between my legs.

I'm considering an Itech Deluxe loose short with the XO cup and see how I like those. I have never really been able to adjust to the WSI compression shorts.

I just got an Itech lock jock and find it incredibly comfortable. The stitching fell apart in it's second use though.

I have a terrible jock problem. Whichever one I get, the cup is never big enough... I've had to resort to buying a second helmet to wear on my crotch. dancing.gif... Guys, which helmet makes a better jock - an 8K, or an 8500?

... Not enough kindergarten humor in this thread, considering that it deals with jocks.

The stiching came undone around the waist. Terrible construction.
