I know a couple of guys on my team who wear girdles. The guys who wear the ones you have selected in this post are a giant pain. The velcro on the legs seems like a good idea, but is actually horrible. The easton stealth is excellent. There are probably several good choices , but avoid the velcro on the legs.

I was one of the last guys back in the 80's if my memory is right to go to a girdle and I have never looked back. I tried my first girdle as the rage was ending and guys were swithching back. In fact I just hung up my cooperall pro model due to a few way to many beers and years and a need for a size larger. Went with the Bauer with the velcro and love it. I haven't worn pants in 20 something years. Now if only the long pants were still around.

About wearing a shell...

I play roller, and am looking to switch to ice (for a while now, just have to get off my ass and do it). I'm a goalie, too. No goalies really wear shells, even though they come with the jersey package. Is it just because we're goalies, or we play roller?

It is possible for goalies to wear a shell, though outside of professional teams attempting to match it's not very common (see a recent pic of Conklin at his first Sabres' practice). I would say that a goalie just needs buy a shell that is about 1-2 sizes lager than his pants. I'm not quite sure how it'd affect movement, though.
