Fedorov's '98 Olympic skates

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i was just cleaning out my room and i found a mini promo that Esso did back when the 1998 winter olympics were coming around. It's a little binder and they would give you a new hockey player page everytime you filled up. It was pretty cool when i was eight so i have most of them. Any way i was looking through it and i found fedorov's. he has some interesting skates in the pic. i was just wondering what they were, they look kindof like old bauers to me but i'm not a big skate expert. cool looking though

also on a side note, almost everybody seems to have cooper gloves, were they big back then?

Air Nfiltrate. Thanks for the assist.

nike zoom airs, and i actually like the looks of them.

There was never a Zoom Air skate. Top end available for the market was Air Accel Elite (worn by Gretzky and the like), then Ignite, then Quest, then V.

One-off for Fedorov. Sundin had Bauers with Nike logo on heel.

i'm pretty sure there was, came in white like the above and in black. Thought gretzky wore Doust skates earlier in his career?

Hahaha. I have that thing. They sold those things at esso gas stations in Ontario. I had the whole damn book of those, I think I still have it somewhere.

If he does, I predict his house looks like the most crammed used hockey equipment store in the world... And one where I would likely spend several paycheques (on the off chance that JR shoots right handed, and wears 9.5D skates).

They were only made for Fedorov.

I do not shoot RH, nor do I wear 9.5 skates.

I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff over the years but lately the overstock is starting to flow.

I'm probably in the minorty here when I say I really like those, granted since I was a kid I've been a sucker for Nike. I would like to see that model made into to a shox shoe, sort of like how Nike keeps bring back old shoe lines, like Deion Sanders styles from a decade ago. I think you could have a the grey part with the black circles with a white outline, the little tag on the heel as well, it could look pretty sharp. Make it part of the hockey traning collection (if that still exists)

I'm sure this is completely beyond the realm of possibility but I'll give it a shot. Go ahead and laugh, I think those skates are tight as hell. I also think federov is the man but most importantly I think they'd look sick with the unis of the college I'm playing at next year. If I was to talk to an NBH rep/contact the factory, do you think they have any overstock of those lying around? Feel free to make me look like a dumbass now.

I see skates like that all the time... They always have a toe pick on them though, so I don't know how that would effect their performance for hockey.

The ironic part is in the pic you posted Fedorov is using an Inno or a Busch I believe, anything else probably wouldn't have been blacked out...
