If you could be one player, who would it be?

Recommended Posts

Along the lines of our "If you could...." questions, this one is pretty simple. Any player, any era, who would you want to be? This question just hit me so at my age I thought I better post it before I forgot it. I still need time to think about it.

Man, thats tough

I have 4 guys for different reasons Modano, Bure, Sakic, Brind'amour

I'd have to go with Pavel Bure, dude had speed, style and could flat out score...

Lets not forget he dated that hot tennis player and had a Brinks truck go to his house every 2 weeks

That is a tough one but I think I would choose Cam Neely or Jarome Iginla. Both great power forwards who I have not even a shadow's chance of ever coming close to their level of play.

current; Vinny Lecavalier. Awesome amount of skill with grace on the ice. Very smart presence of mine, with the only question being his heart... If he played every second of every shift as hard as he could he'd be the best player in the game right now, especially if he had a consistant set of linemates. Right now he's in the top ten and he's finally starting to work harder.

Past; Mario. If he didn't have to fight his body his entire career he probably would have been undoubtably the greatest of all time. Gretzky had the determination and hockey smarts, Mario had the pure talent mixed with the drive to be the best... Sadly his body never gave him the ability to reach his goal.

I'm going to go with Adam Graves.

being a ranger fan, I know I'm biased, but the man was simply a class act, and could fill pretty much any role needed on the team. Need a top line power forward? Done. Need a penalty killer and 3rd/4th line checking winger? Done. Hell, if they wanted him to, he probably would have jumped in net. He gave his heart and soul each and every night on and off the ice.

Chris Pronger,

His slap shot would probably go right through me if i got hit with it, and he could beat up pretty much everybody in the NHL...plus he lives in california and makes multi millions. Thats good enough for me

Its kind of disappointing to see so many people talking about people making millions, yet nobody mentions someone like Yzerman, Sakic, Shanny, etc. for winning Cups and the Olympics. Those guys were the first guys I thought of.

S. Niedermayer or N. Lidstrom

They are the best Offensive D-man

I don't know if they are the best, I would have to go with Bobby Orr for that distinction.

Well im the second coming of Pavel Datsyuk... Just skated on ice for the first time tonight in about five years. Means I have 6 years to get into the NHL to catch Dats.

Oh yeah and i'll hold out for Thornton money to.

Mike Ribeiro. I would love to be hated by everyone on MSH. :D

Seriously, I would like to be a mix of Pavel Bure, Alex Kovalev, Sergei Fedorov, Pavel Datsyuk and Marian Gaborik...

Haha don't say Ribeiro if you wanted to be hated by everybody.

If you wanted to be hated by everyone, say i'd love to be Sidney Crosby.

Personally i'd like to be a Maxime Talbot, love the crash bang game, but can also put the puck in the net.

The same answer, and for the same reason, as "If you could only watch one player..."

Bobby Orr

It was amazing how electrifying he was compared to his peers.

Mark Messier, Maybe not the greatest player but he had a passion towards the game that just seemed unmatched.

Besides that being the undersized player I always was.. Theo Fleury was a huge inspiration for a long time.

im only going to pick a player from the current NHL. ill go with Dustin Penner. he went from playing jr college hockey to u maine and has worked his way up to the nhl ranks. hes a fairly young guy born in 82 and is living/working in so. cal. 24g, 14a, for 38 points isnt bad for being 6'4" 245. it would be nice to see his hard work rewarded with a stanley cup and a fat new contract

Present-Forsberg. Just to experience that combination of fire and ability. And to experience scoring a game winning shoot out goal for a gold, and then to make the game winning assist for the gold last year, not to mention to hoist the Cup twice. I can't imagine experiencing moments like that all in one lifetime.

Past-99. Am I the first to have said Gretzky??? That man defines class across all sports. And I love what he did with no real physical gifts to speak of. Miraculous--proof that there is a god! :)
