More bad news for the NHLPA

Recommended Posts

This could be interesting; employers are allowed to view and manipulate the e-mail accounts of employees because the e-mail system and accounts are the employers' property.

However, the NHLPA is "owned" by the players. Did someone in the NHLPA think that they employed the players, instead of the other way around? Or was it just somebody who thought s/he could get away with it?

The NHLPA is a union which means the NHLPA employs the players and "leases" them to teams. The players vote for who is to represent them as a whole. Blocking specific e-mail accounts and/or reading private e-mail accounts would be more under racketeering. The union would be trying to alter or manipulate the outcome of votes or player knowledge by limiting who gets what.

This is really no surprise as far as unions are concerned.

From what I recall during the lockout, they don't actually qualify as a union and the NHLPA does not employ the players.
