NWoodhockey17 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 i had LS2's put on my 9ks and they feel like the blade is starting to come loose. i have checked the blade and i can't move it around but when i walk say from the locker room to the ice i can hear somewhat of a clicking noise. i checked under my footbeds and the hockey shop didn't drill holes so i can tighten the blade(if thats what needs to be done. any ideas on what i should do? thanks

NWoodhockey17 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 what would be the best way to get them out? thanks.
JR Boucicaut 3810 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 The only way, pull out your insole and you'll see a hole...oh wait, hopefully your riveter drilled a hole for you to access your LS bolt...
providencebadboy21 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 I was always under the impression the clicking noise came from loose steel. Assuming you got a whole, just tighten up your steel and you'll be straight.
pat_roy 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 Ok, it isn't the blade it is the rivets. I blew all my rivets on my skates. I have 9ks with LS2 on them too. Ya just go to your LHS and ask them to check the rivets.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 just because your problem was the rivets doesn't me it's the same problem he has. It might be the issue but chances are it's probably the runner.
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 Bring them back to the shop that did the work and have them either drill the hole in the footbed or remove the holder, reset the steel, and remount. Most likely they'll just drill the hole.

It just might help you get more feedback if it was a little more specific to the holder, as opposed to the skate.
colt45 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 I also have 9k's with tuuks on them.My LHS didn't drill a hole in the boot either, so if this happened to me, I would just bring it back to them, because only they know how the originally inserted them.IMO don't do it yourself, have them do it. If they screw it up, it's their fault and they'll fix them (Once again IMO).
ktang 34 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 Here is what happened with my LS2s (on 8090s). You might have the same problem as me, but as TBLFan says it might be a different problem. Some help from other MSH members
MLSman 22 Report post Posted March 17, 2007 The LS2 has been the one holder that has had this issue. Your LHS most likely (certainly hope they did it this way) inserted the LS2 steel into the LS2 holder before mounting the holder to your boot. The reason is that the LS2 will give a little when the mounting the rivets, so it makes putting the steel on difficult. I had this issue with two different skates and the LS2. What the shop had to do was use the front "hook" of the LS2 steel and carve out some of the plastic in the middle of the holder where the steel is inserted. He then used a heat gun to warm up the middle of the holder. One warm, he inserted the blade, and then used a machine that pushed the blade into the holder. IT was quite a process, but it worked. The blade was in nice and tight, with no clicking coming from the front. It took a good half hour to get it done.
NWoodhockey17 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2007 i checked in my old xxx's and there is a hole aproxamently 5/8 of an inch in diameter, if i were to drill a hole about that size and in the same spot would i be able to tighten the steel, and if i did this would it affect the boot, thanks
JR Boucicaut 3810 Report post Posted March 18, 2007 You have to drill in the middle between the last two rivets. Dude, if all Bauer skates are drilled, what makes you think it'd affect the RBK?
