How long is this proccess and how does it work. I have no idea what it means but after reading and searching I only thought it was something to do with the blade. How much does it tend to cost ?

it costs around $20-30. It doesn't take too long to actually do it but waiting for someone to do it might take a few mins of a few days depending on your LHS.

Go down to your LHS and have them explain the process to you. They shouldn't mind. It's also a good idea to call before you head down, in case they have several in front of you, the wait could be long.

Your LHS should be able to explain the process to you, and your options. As far as time, best to call ahead to make sure there aren't several ahead of you cause the wait could be long.

Profiling is a process where steel is removed from the skate blade to shape it to a desired radius and pitch. Radius determines how much blade touches the ice. Pitch determines the forward (toe), neutral, or back (heel) position of the blade.

Most skates when bought do not come with a matched profile, so it really is a good idea when buying a new pair of skates or replacing the blades to get them profiled.

Awesome! thnx for the info guys, but since I have a hockey game in the evening and the shop opens at like 5 or 4 pm should i just go for a sharpen first or get them profiled after the game =/

Are these new skates?

Just get them sharpened before your game. You may not like the profile, or might need a skate or two to adjust... best to not make a change from what you are used to on game day.
