easton skate fit

Recommended Posts

so heres the deal. im looking to get a 2nd pair of skates. nothing too fancy, just a backup pair. ive seen some very nice deals on the synergy 900 and 700 skates, and am wonderding how they fit. im currently in graf 735s, 8 wide. would the 8ee work?

ps. my lhs has pretty much nothing left of their skate stock, so thats not an option. plus, i dont want to use them as a fitting service.

A lot of people will tell you that its a gamble for easton. they either fit great or they dont. so your only true way of finding out is to try them on.as long as you dont sharpen them, hockeymonkey will take them back.

As the guys have previously said, switching to Easton may be a bit of a gamble especially if you are currently in Grafs. It seems with Eastons you either like the fit or hate it and you'll definitely tell the difference because the Graf fit is one of the best on the market.

I personally owned a pair of Synergy 900's and found the fit to be great.I upgraded to the 1100's later and did not find them nearly as comfortable but still not too bad. Unfortunately I had already sold the 900's otherwise I would have returned the 1100's.

I also own a pair of 1300C's and find the fit phenominal and have absolutely no issues about them. I chose them over a pair of Graf 705's. Other guys can't wear them because they bite into their ankles and leave cuts. The fit in the Easton C line ( 800C to 1500C ) is a different fit all together giving you a wider toe area and narrower ankle area opposed to the Synergy skates. So you see it's a bit of a crap shoot with Eastons. Maybe you could try a few pairs out and walk around for a bit in them to see how you find the fit at a LHS. Try both the Synergy and C line models. My guess is you find the C line a little more to your taste.

C refers to the carbon one piece boot. It has nothing to do with the fit. The Synergy line is a traditonal made skate with an outsole and quarters. The 800C ( for example) means it's Easton's (800) skate with the one piece © carbon boot. They still come in the traditional "D" and "EE" widths. I'm not a hundred per cent positive if the newer "C" series skate come in a narrow or C width as well.

Thanks for clarifying that.

What about the fit, all I've read searching previous topics is that they are wide in comparison to other boots (that are supposed to be the same width) and that the fit is a hit or miss. But what is the fit like? i.e. narrow heel, wide midfoot, wide toearea?

I find the toe to be one of the widest parts of the skate. I own the 800C's and they are wonderful. In comparison to bauers, i think they have a wider heel and im not too sure on the midfoot.

if thats the case, they might work ok for me. i could use just a little more room in the toebox in my grafs. the heel is the only thing i have any concern about. i know that rbks heels are too wide, tacks were fine, and vectors were slightly too wide in the heel.
