Does anyone have any photos of their home made

Recommended Posts

We just moved into a house and have a fairly big sized utility room that I am using for my hockey gear.

I have a standalone closet that I got in ikea a few years back that I am using, minus the front door.

It has a shelf at the top, and a hanging pole (for shirts and such) just below that.

Both are removable.

So far all I have done is remove the door, and mount two hooks on either side to hold my skates.

I was hoping someone else had done this, so could give me some pointers, what way do you have it lined up? I was going to keep the top shelf for my helmet repair kit/jerseys, then hang a couple of hooks on the inside for the pads, and put my pants on a clothes hanger and hang it on the rail.

But was looking to see what others had to see if there is a better way to lay it out.

Stupid I know, but thought I would ask

Cheers

I use one of these:

http://www.rona.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servl...&height=500

The only difference is my top shelf isn't at the highest part of the posts so I'm able to hang my jock, pants and jersey off the posts that extend. Skates (with insoles removed) easily sit verticle because the blade and lower part of the holder fits in the gaps between the planks that make up the shelves. Everything else is placed on the shelves.

Good luck.

i just use nails for gloves and shinpads and coathangers for shoulder pads with elbow pads attatched by velcro and have my skates hanging upside down hanging from a stick laid across a couple of hooks

Uh-oh. Something bad happened...

We are really sorry, but something went wrong while handling your request.

Ditto, looks like you got a pretty nice setup there, I may have to look in to doing something like this at the moment it's a case of scattering gear around the spare room floor. :(

I got an idea to shape some PVC tubing into a stick-man shape with a bunch of 90 degree joints, drill some holes in it, and strap wet gear on like it was a player ( elbows on the elbows, shins on the bottom 'legs', you get the point), and attach a fan to the base to blow air through the whole thing. Do you think this would work? I can make a quick drawing if anyone doesn't see what the picture in my head is :P

Yeah, we moved in march from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom single family room. We have built in wardrobes, so this was spare, and when I saw the size of the room, I figured a couple of hooks, screws and nails would convert it into somewhere decent to keep my gear.

I had the exact same thought, got most of it worked out, but I'm stuck on what to do with the pants.

Any ideas?

hmm, if you had a sturdy base, make a pair of pipes the go up either in front of or behind the main part of it, and put the pants on it upside down (probably put caps on the ends of those two pipes and drill lots of holes) think like a fork with two tines pointing up in the air... that's all I have so far

Those look good, you guys are very devoted, hehe. I normally just sprawl out my gear on the ground and set it sit 24-48 hours.

even better, instead of taking a bag full of gear to ice time, just show up in the locker room carrying a mannequin fully dressed in hockey gear... take it off of the mannequin, put it on, and hit the ice. :D
