Tongue of the S15's

Recommended Posts

I finally tried a pair of these on yesterday and ordered them. Should be here tomorrow. I cant wait because I was so affriad that they were going to be to wide as everyone previously posted. I think these skates would be perfect for me if they had a wider toe box like the new Bauer XXXX but other than that I was happy with them. As one person stated on this site and you know who you are; I THINK EASTON GOT IT RIGHT THIS TIME.

Anyhow to answer your question. I didnt think the tongue was stiff at all but I did notice that it was hard to perform a good forward flex in the boot due to it being such a high cut boot. I think that may be your issue as well. I untied the top eyelit and it was perfect. I should say that I'm coming off a pair of Graf G3's to give you an idea of how low cut of a boot I wear. Try this and see how it works out for you.

could you please tell me what nike shoe size you wear and what size skate you got?

I dont wear Nike shoes because they are to narrow for my foot so I wear Asics. With that being said I still wear a D width and a size 11 shoe. I ended up getting a size 9 S15 skate that fit me like a glove out of the box. I will heat mold it for those little areas that need to be formed to my ankle and foot but it is a nice fitting skate. Also it is a high cut boot and I will not be lacing the top eyelit. With shinpads on I may even skip the two top eyelits. That is something that has yet to be determined. I will say this; You must try these on before just ordering a pair. I cant express that enough.

it seemed as if the S15 tongue was very stiff, and the specs say its moldable, so I was wondering if it will change if I get them molded.

I feel like my S15s gave about the same amount of flex after I baked them as before I baked them (which is still more flex than my xxx's).

I wear a 10.5 shoe and bought a 8.5 S15.

BTW, nice name. I use to play bass for Bigwig...i think we did warped tour with Millencolin a few years back...crazy swedes.

I just checked this skate out today. I'm a Vapor faithful. Nothing else. I have to tell you, this skate is awesome. It was light as hell and seemed to be a perfect stiffness for me. Excellent skate.

I wear a 12 in nikes and have a size 10 S15s

So I think it's safe to say that the S15 fits 2 full sizes down from a persons shoe size. However the internet will tell you to be fit only 1 size down. Oh how wrong they are and this is why you should not buy skates on-line.

yes, flexing forward is what i was referring to. im gettin my S15's this weekend, I tried them on and I like a tongue that can flex forward, and since it seemed hard to flex forward,(which was my only disappointment in it) which lead me to starting this topic. I wish that Chadd would take me off mod approval, and btw homerocks, millencolin is like my favorite band, yeah ive heard of bigwig, i like the song girl in the green jacket

ah man... i was going to order with 2 sizes down but Jr has messed me up.. :( Can someone who has fitted a lot of people with this skate please tell me... or do you guys think i'll be safe with a 7 if i wear a 8.5 shoe?

i would love to buy from LHS but the problem is that it's $529 online in the US but it's $721 ($799 canadian) up here in canada from the hockeyshop which is a total rip off store. forget about the "service" part cause the last time i decided to spend more money to get a skate there the guy went for lunch on me when my skates were baking in the oven and i ended up taking them out and fitting myself in the store. also i must of screwed something up while i was walking with the skate on and trying to walk around to get the other one out cause i had to bake it at home again with the cooking oven to get it right. So everyone who keeps on telling me to buy it at a lhs please understand my situation here. I also know there is a few the hockeyshop employees here and i'm not saying your store or employees suck just that your prices are a little off and service that one time was bad but haven't had to many other problems with you guys.

First, a disclaimer-I buy my gear at LHS, not online-enjoy browsing, inspecting what I'm considering purchasing-pay little more for knowledgable service.

You should go to LHS where guy left your last skates in the oven Shute and get fitted for the S15's.....get served by the sales guy who left for lunch on you. I wouldn't be nasty in end by telling him your now buying online once you know size-resist that urge and leave gracefully.

I cant express how important it is that you DONT buy these on-line. I'm sure that if you go to your LHS, try them on and find your proper fit and offer to pay them cash for the skates so the LHS does not have to pay the extra % for the credit card machine service fee they would be willing to do something with you. Besides you'll still have to pay to get them sharpened and heat molded. Usually you wont have to pay for that when buying your skates from the shop.

Everyone has to remember that if we keep buying things on-line that eventually we WONT have anywhere to see the new stuff let alone even try new stuff on. Brick and morter is dependent on us. Just talk to your sales person to see what if anything they will be willing to do for you.

Chances are they won't budge on the price but they might throw in some tape, laces and/or soakers. The baking and first sharpening is a must, I like to ask for the second sharpening too. Basically because the next time I return to the rink after getting the first sharpening I want another because the first sharpening just sucks.

If a LHS isnt willing to at least eat the tax then I dont know what to say. Where I live tax is 8.1% thats better than nothing.

If they messed up the sharpening the first time, why would you bother going back to them? a shit job is still shit if it's free.

i'm more then willing to pay as much as $100 canandian more if it means i get to try it out first and have it baked here but i'm talking about a $200 difference or $250 canadian. they would be laughing at anyone who walks out the door with a pair of those.

i really need someone to answer my sizing question...

Normally their sharpenings are great... just not the first sharpening(one guy hurries through it). Actually, he sharpened my skates tonight. I asked him if he could go slower because last time my steel got burnt, he said sure... Looks good and no burnt steel but I'm still going back later to get my skates sharpened by my favorite sharpener.
