Mission L7

Recommended Posts

These are cheap at HockeyGiant. I can't find any info on them on this site though.

I already know I like the pitch holder and supple fit but ar$e they light?

No LHS has them around here so it's not an option to see for myself. I have the Fuel AG95's and like everything except the fact that Mission stopped matching shoe size to skate size.

The L line is NOT a supplefit skate, so if you are considering them for that reason then think again. They are a very stiff boot, and are pretty light - probably close to Vector 10 weight. I think they are a great buy for what they are going for these days - $200CAD at my LHS.

they were top of the line when they came out. comparable to the 110 XPs. the fit will be different from your RBKs. (Narrower, shallower)

As previously stated they are a narrower/shallower fit than an RBK skate. They are too new to yet determine their durability factor but Missions skates in general seem to last. They have the Pitch 3 holder and blade which is a plus. Very nice tongue, part felt and part foam rubber and form fitted, excellent lace bite protection.A solid skate with great support and it seems to perform very well on the ice. Clario lining inside is very comfortable and they come at a very good price. Very surprised it didn't sell much better for Mission because in general it is a very reasonably priced top end product.I guess it doesn't have the flashy looks of say a Vapor or Synergy skate.

the problem isn't so much the look as it's the logo, unfortunately. Far too many people won't give mission a chance because of their roller hockey roots. A friend laughs at me for weaqring L7s, and calls them roller hockey skates. For less than half of what he paid for his Vapors, I'm pleased with my purchase.

They would look really good with black holders/laces.

The way the prices of equipment keeps going up, Mission products are beginning to look very desirable. It's decent quality equipment for a reasonable price. As I said before I would have no problems purchasing much of what they make. Who really cares what the logo is as long as it serves the purpose.

I wear L7's, and they're one of the best skates I've ever owned. The functionality of the adjustable Pitch cannot be overstated. You can experiment with different levels, and really dial in your experience. When HG reduced the price to $199 some time back, I bought another pair just to have in 'stock'.

As for the Mission's Origin conundrum...Who cares. I find it hard to rationalize when someone says they won't wear a skate because a company's roots are in another sport, but can support a brand that openly and outwardly employs and endorses sweat shop labor - i.e. Nike. It's a silly argument really, and doesn't make any sense at all.

People just like to hear themselves talk before they think.

I've worn and tried the L7s and they're an excellent skate. I didnt buy them, but that was mainly due to the fact that I already had 3 pair of skates that fit me just fine. I think the discounts on L7s are a great value. I'd get a pair but cant justify spending another $199 when I've got a newborn in the house.

 So true. Just this past winter I had one of our hockey parents tell me that I shouldn't wear Mission skates because the steel breaks. I asked if he or his kids ever owned a pair. "No, someone told me they break steel".

I took alot of pleasure in educating him in front of everyone there about how the original holders were too stiff because of the driveshaft and did break steel but those are long gone and how they now have (IMO) the best steel & holder in the industry.

I heard that missions now aren't directly the same as your shoe size, is this true?

Our skates fit somewhere between a full size to a half size smaller than your shoe. I personally have a 10 shoe (etnies) and a size 8.5 skate.

As for the whole Mission being a Roller Hockey company, I just sit back and laugh..Yep, we started in Roller...So what...Take for example Easton..Did they start in Hockey (ice or roller)..Nope..But who cares...They make good product...That is all that matters...

Mission and TPS are two of the most overlooked companies and both make great products. It's a shame that many people just don't give them a chance.

I agree, too many players a over concious of the brand name they have on their equipment. I'm very guilty of that myself being a bit of an Easton freak. I have tried to be a little more open minded of late and tried to see each piece of equipment for the features and benefits it carries. If you stay objective you can easily find the best bang for your buck. Nobody really cares in the long haul if you wear a mixure of different equipment brands and it is in reality good for the industry as a whole.
