Broke Stealth CNT After Warranty Expired

Recommended Posts

http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...c=29667&hl=

Bought my son a JR Stealth CNT March 16, he leaned into shot last week and shaft broke. Might have got 'nicked' on faceoff in 3 on 3, thought I'd see if anyone is aware of issues with Jr Stealth CNT Grip sticks.....thats red/black model, RH if it matters.

I know its pay your money-take your chances but $277 for 40 days on a kids stick...OUCH. Last sticks broke just after warranty also, some manufacturer should come out with a loyalty program/reduced price for customer spending a grand on sticks in year.

Anyone aware of a defect on these sticks.....don't pm me how to get around warranty restrictions-not interested even tho I'm having terrible luck with equipment :( Could just be the shaft was damaged in use but thought I'd check if you guys are seeing a problem with those Stealths.

Could have something to do with the fact that you slam it into 150+ pound players skating 20 mph, nick it on sharp steel blades, jam it, bend it, and wack it as hard as you can at a surface about as hard as concrete...yea, just keep buying the kid 275 dollar sticks so that he can intentionally abuse them. I'm sure the extra 200 for the stealth will take him to the NHL.

In other words, you're screwed, and of course you knew the stick would be abused and probably broken when you bought it. Solution? start buying cheaper sticks.

It could just be that your son isn't supposed to use Jr. sticks. Maybe he should be using intermediate and if necessarry, Sr. I mean in the topic that you linked us to, you were talking about getting a prostock dolomite. They don't go below 85 flex. Going from 50 flex in Jr. to 85 in Sr. is a big change.( Thats why I asked what is height, weight, etc. was.)

Whats your problem?

I don't have a problem; the guy who knowingly forks out 275 for a hockey stick that will inevitably break, then comes and posts on here asking what he should do about after said breaking is the one with the apparent problem. No one forces anyone to buy these expensive sticks. Like I said earlier, start buying cheaper sticks.

I don't know of any "problems" with the stealth construction. As a matter of fact, the stealths have an extra layer of carbon on the corners that actually adds strength and help prevent cracks that eventually cause breakage.

Still, it likely broke because of some type of prior damage, sticks don't usually break on shots unless there is a stress crack somewhere. It's even rarer for a junior to break, as someone said above, a junior may not be right stick for your son.

There's no need to sound like a menstruating woman with sand in her vagina. I can see why you have something to say, but really, that's not necessary. You're right, people should just buy cheaper sticks, but you don't have to antagonize Zamboni because he decided to shell out $80 more than he should have for a Stealth CNT. If he wants to do it, he can. If he wants to complain, he can. It's not your business to tell him what he should waste his money on.

If you have a suggestion, come off a little more nicely so that people will actually listen. If some douchebag had told me to use the Dolomite because my Vapor XX was a piece of crap, and the Dolomite was fifty times superior and was undoubtedly the best choice, I would tell him to buzz off, and just because of him, never try a Dolomite. This is what you're doing. If you want to encourage people to buy cheaper sticks, you say, "Oh, well here's a deal on such and such, and in my experience, it's a better stick for a better price. It'd probably be better for your money if you bought this." Instead of "Blah, blah, blah,[incoherent bitching] buy cheaper sticks because your stealth sucks and I know what I'm talking about."

Get my drift?

And really, Zamboni it probably isn't in the best interest of your money to buy an overpriced stick for even more than the retail price. You should be able to find CNT Stealths in Junior size for less than $200. If you are looking into a cheap stick, the Mission Pulse and Hex-1 are on sale in the $90-$110 USD price range.

Wow, way to be a prick for absolutely no reason. I think the whole point of his topic was if a junior stick breaking in forty days, there might be some construction issues.

Zamboni, I dunno where your son is breaking most of his sticks, but if he is continually breaking blades maybe try going to a 2 piece combo. Hell, even if he is breaking shafts with a 2 piece you could atleast keep the blades. I'm not going to say how you should spend your money, if you can afford it then more power to ya for buyin your children the best of the best. However, maybe try an intermediate stick, or buy closeout from a few years ago. You can find some great deals on year or two year old top of the line sticks sometimes.

Nice attempt at an insult there, haven't heard the PMS/vagina jokes since maybe 8th grade.

The guy buys a hockey stick, and it breaks. Tough luck. All I'm saying is, what are we supposed to help him with? He can choose to spend 275 on a stick every time it breaks and suck up the cost, or he can buy cheaper sticks. He's the one complaining about the expensive stick breaking! Simple solution: don't buy them anymore.

All of you whiners can get together and petition to Easton for stronger sticks or a longer warranty period. Go knock yourself out if it makes you feel better. Heed the old saying, and "let the buyer beware". (Or use a little common sense and realize that a hockey stick will break, and if you can't cough up the money to replace your stealth, don't buy it...then when it does break, take it like a man and buy a new one)

What if hes got the money to spend on a stick, I've seen 7-8 yr. old kids with dads and/or moms that own half our town, walk into the arena with two CNT stealth or any other 275$ hockey sticks, and hockey gear thats better then mine. He didn't intend on having you harp on him because "HE" decided to buy "HIS" son "A COMPOSITE" hockey stick, he just gave his opinion on how the sticks tend to break easy for that price and considering the fact that his son is using junior sticks, he must be pretty small or light weight and breaking them is kinda shocking. As for the petition thing i don't know about you but how about you make yourself a petition about how our fellow members always wine about hockey sticks breaking and prices going up, how about you knock yourself out and do that.

As for Zamboni, i think that its just bad luck, lots of people here have had sticks break on them instantly when they use them, now days its a hit or miss thing. I would look into buying maybe a stick thats made sturdier, and if you have little to no hockey knowledge just ask the guys at your LHS I'm sure they would be able to lend you a hand. I never really had any problems with the stealths, cant say i had a lot, but i had 3 or 4 and they broke through normal use, nothing out of the ordinary. I would consider the CCM junior OPS or the synergy ST junior OPS I'm sure you would have much better luck with those two sticks.

All I did is state the first thing that came to my mind on the issue, and offered him the one actual solution to his problem of losing money on broken sticks. I never said not to buy expensive sticks, I couldn't care less if he does, or if anyone else does. But we all know they will break, so when they do, there's no need to complain about it. The very title of this thread explains its worthlessness: "broke stealth after warranty expired". So what are we supposed to do? Offer our condolences? It's just a hockey stick, and these threads appear on a daily basis now...

I'm sure its been a grueling 2 months of "worthless threads".... Have a little respect, if you can't offer kind insight, it's as simple as not responding.

My son had breakage problems with the older model stealth (think it was silver?)2005 I believe? Breakage was ridiculous(100 flex)with 2 once breaking within minutes(one of them used for the first time).Easton replaced 1 after the warranty with a 110 flex and 1 store gave me a credit for another one.The newer model (blue)has proven to be very durable lasted for about 40 games, countless practices and a lot of pickup hockey.Obviously, something was not right with the older model. Not sure if your son's Stealth was the "grip" version of that model.

There is considerable industry knowledge on this site, if that particular model stick had a defect someone selling those Stealths may have advised me of that. No other motive, I'm not looking for sympathy.

My son is 10, weighs 70lbs-stick is properly sized for him. The link to March is my looking for a stick for myself and him (I am on a bad run :P )

Stick may very well have gotten damaged in faceoff, guessed that when it broke but thought it prudent to check here in case Easton was having a problem. CNT Stealths are $269+ here, I should have mentioned I'm in Canada.

Were not missing any meals here to buy hockey equipment, what I should/shouldn't be purchasing doesn't matter.

I had my first of many 05 Stealths last me 2 seasons(50games +playoffs) outdoors on polished concrete until the blade split.

Sorry if my posts from yesterday offended you, I was in a bad mood, and should have just chosen not to respond at all... ;)

Anyway, a few guys I play with use stealths, and they all love the stick, haven't had any problems. Could be from using INT though as others have said.

If you just broke the blade, put a new blade in it... If its the shaft try SRS.. I dont think your kid will see a huge difference in weight with the SRS.
