Edge 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2007 I personally have never attended it, but a couple friends have and said it was great. Apparently the one they went to had dorms the players had to stay in and they weren't too happy about them...
millertime99 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2007 I currently attend Shattuck. St Mary's..and I play hockey there lol. I will be a counselor at the girls camp this summer. I have heard nothing but good from these camps. It is a lot of hockey and a fun experience and staying the dorms is just part of the experience. It helps you focus more on hockey than just messing around and also you meet people from all over. Let me know if you have any other questions! :D

All Torhs Team 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2007 I went to it two years in a row. It truly was a great experience both times. You get alot of information/motivation from the camps as well as plenty of ice time. You cant really complain about the dorm rooms. Small and hot (BRING A FAN) but nothing that a 14 year old boy at camp can complain about. Think of the college students that make it a home for a year. The instructors give you weight room advice in a very very nice weight room that is open all camp. They have an open gym for basketball or running all week. They try to mix things up, one time we played lacrosse, another time we playedd raquet ball. The counslers made it pretty fun. Joked around with us alot, but always knew how to lay things down when it was needed. By the end of the week I had blisters. Being on the ice 3 times a day working hard gets to ya pretty quick. 2 practices and a game each night. The games are pretty fun, its a little tournament like deal. Each year there were 1-3 kids that were oustanding for our age, then the rest of the kids were not bad at all, so it was a pretty fast paced camp. Theyve got like 10 nets outdoors with the little pads on concrete so you can shoot with your fancy sticks. Everyone thought that was a pretty cool thing. They will have horse-games on the shooter tutor and other made up games. Sometimes they gave like $5 to the kid that could hit the most targets. Then youve got your free time with the guys in the den area. That was always fun too, we played poker and listened to music, but it was always supervised by one of the counslers. And not to mention, the food there was amazing. All you could eat, variety, very delicious, worth your money for sure.Id say if your kid is interested in hitting up a camp, this one is a great one for kids that are looking to improve their game. hockeydad23 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 Thanks for all the feedback - He's signed up for the last week in July. Seems like a good combination of structured time plus some free time. He'll also be happy to know that the food is good since he and his friends basically survived on power bars in Lake Placid last year :)
