Si-core Synthesis Blades

Recommended Posts

Im thinking about buying one, has anyone used it yet? does it still give you the great feel of a si-core? and how does it hold up?

One of my friends on my AAA team is using one. I don't see him much though anymore, because we only practice once a week untill another 3 more weeks. But anyways he said that he couldn't tell the difference between it and a regular synthesis blade.

The diference between the si synth and the normal one is the same as the one between the synergy and the si core. The si core blade feels exactly like a si core.

I've got one that I use for roller and I honestly can't tell the difference between it and a regular carbon blade. I can't compare it to a regular synthesis though as I haven't used one. Has been really durable for me, Ilove it.

I have a regular synergy and synergy si core... THe synergy si core is remarkable in feel and closely mimicks the feel of a wood blade. Solid, yet giving, great feel. Highly recommended, best blade ever.

Whenever I switch to a Si-Core, I can definitely tell the difference. However, like any piece of equipment you get used to it and it becomes the benchmark or standard.

Ryan, is it true that some Si Core OPS doesnt have the blue strip of silicon inserted in the blade? I have a friend that worked at a hockey shop and he broke hes si core right after the 30 day warranty and he took apart the blade and he didnt see a blue strip of silicon while others he noticed a blue strip of silicon.

My understanding of the Si-Core intent is it's supposed to dampen receiving hard passes. For those of you who have not noticed a difference, is this because you're looking specifically for feel while stickhandling/shooting, vs. receiving hard passes?

There has to be a point where even soft hands can develop tennis elbow from repeatedly receiving hard passes. :P I suppose what I was asking was if people are taking advantage of the dampening abilities the Si-Core is supposed to have. If I'm out to lunch on all of this, then please disregard.

I don't know if the OPS is different from the blade, and as I said before I can't compare it to a regular Synthesis blade as I've never owned one, but this one seems to be the same as any other carbon blade I've used. Who knows, maybe I'm the one thats out to lunch on this thing. I love the blade, its been great, but I'd be lying if I said that it helps me recieve hard passes. I can recieve passes just as well using a Vapor XV blade or a Mission Ether blade. Its all in the mind, maybe if you think that it will help you then it actually will and you'll become a better player. However it is that you become a better player does not matter to me, just as people improve then its all good.

Having used two of these blades, I feel that they are great blades no doubt, but I really found them to lacking in quality. After using one all of twice it broke while the other lasted two weeks and since there is no warranty on these, I was left in the dark.

Are you sure his wasn't a pro-stock? Easton painted a lot of the pro stock Synergys orange as a marketing ploy.

Ryan- Synergys or Synergies? Its been pissing me off for a while now.

Its sometimes in the player's head, if the blade claims to help with reciveing hard passes and the player beliefs it hes gonna have more confidence in himself to reach for the harder passes.

The si core definitely feels a little bit softer. I took an 85 Grip si core and an 85 synergy out with me and used them one after another at a sticks and pucks session, My friend whiped a few passes at me with both sticks, and the si definately has a lot more forgiveness to it. Both are drury curves btw.

IMO the Synthesis blades offer great feel, just like the Si-Core sticks. Like Cavs, I've test driven the Si-Core immediately after the regular synergy and yes, the Si-Cores do offer more feel and dampening. The dampening was especially noticable when we practiced catching hard passes with one hand, i.e. to far out in front, or behind. I have both a Synthesis shaft and Si-Core blade combination and a Si-Core grip. Both are holding up great. I'm a believer in the Si-Core technology. Now, if only Easton would make an 85 flex grip Synthesis shaft...

Racer I have the same exact setups as you right now, except for the si core synth blade since easton stubornly decides not to release a drury, but makes it in a lidstrom and shanahan. <_< I'll just have to settle with my drury synthesis rock blade or get used to a sakic si core now that i broke the xv blade that was in my synthesis. I must say that i'm absolutely loving my 85 drury si core grip though. It performs, and its pretty.

What XV blade is close to a Drury? A 106 or what were you using? What did you think of the XV blade compared to a Si-Core blade? They are in direct competition with each other. The Sakic is an alright curve since you're used to Easton's 5.5 lie. The Lidstrom is too much for me and the Shanny, uh, a science project? Have you considered a Modano? (Yeah, I'm just a big fan of the player and the curve.) I agree. The Si-Core grip is pretty and performs. How about the XV blade as a comparison though? Curious as to your thoughts.

I had a 106 XV, but i believe the 91 Kovalchuk is a closer match to the Drury. I put up a fairly extensive review of the XV in the reviews section, briefly its a solid all around blade, but its a little bit heavy and thick for my liking. Feel was great however, easily on par with the si core.

I have to use a 5.5 lie, which basically limits me to the Sakic. If the modo was a 5.5, i would be using it.
