What are the advantages of oxysoxover something like a wigwam sock that makes it so much mote expenzive. Wigwams are like $5 and seem to work pretty well.

Due to the fact that they're compression, it increases blood flow. Similar to what diabetics wear I suppose.

Seriously, the foot part of the sock is only like 4" long. It's hard to put the sock on. The toe and heel are loose, however, the foot part is tight.

Case and point - I wore regular socks the first day I went to the Expo in Toronto. Feet hurt like hell...the second day I wore OxySox and did twice the walking (as I walked back to the hotel) and no foot pain to speak of...

sounds interesting, they're going on my list of things to buy after I get my truck fixed and speeding ticket paid.

The walk to the hotel wasn't as bad as the walk to Gretzky's.

Yeah, but we also did the HHOF and I had the subway ride from Just Hockey. But I know all you want to do is talk smack about the Gretzky's trip...

I have had a pair of UA socks for about 4 months now.  I have had no problems with them breaking down and I never wash them.  I just wear them and then take them out of my bag to dry. I originally bought the socks to help me get past the blistering break-in period of my skates, but now that I have gotten used to them I wear them all the time. I just recommend doing a little surgery on your skates for more ventilation/drainage if you are going to wear them since the material will just leave your boots full of sweat.

You're that guy that no one wants to sit next to in the change room right?

Actually, the socks don't really smell at all. I wash all of my clothes regularly, but it's just these socks that I don't wash.

The socks are really not absorbant, but that's not their purpose. Their purpose is to pull moisture away from your skin to aid in evaporation. They don't soak up the water but rather help pull it to the outside air faster. The reason I drilled the holes in my skates was b/c the moisture was being pulled away but it had no place to go. The holes give the sweat a place drain while I am still playing. With the socks not being very absorbant and my V-12s also having a non-absorbant liner material, sweat just accumulated inside the skate creating a slippery environment inside my skates. The UA socks do work, but they need some help.

If I'm not mistaken, all the UA is a thin sock with the wicking material right?

Yes, but they do have a little material on the sides and bottom of the foot for support.

I've had a pair of oxysox for a few months but haven't really used them all that much. I'm just wondering from you guys that use them, do you pull them up all the way or do you shove them down mostly around your skates? The things freaking go up to my knees, but when I stuff them down it feels like they're strangling the circulation out of my feet (go numb). And they're the right size...

OxySocks are great, but they are a little long. I bought mine a size too small and love the fact that they are so tight around my foot.

yeah but you're like 3 feet tall....so of course you'd think they are long......midget. :o

I bought a pair of Oxysox in Feb. and love 'em. A great, thin wicking sock that has a little texture that results in a little grab with the boot liner is the Patagonia liner sock. Patagonia make mountain climbing and skiing gear, but the socks are top-notch. Other than that Oxysox are the way to go. I don't fold them down. Not really a problem.

i actually own oxysox, but how do they work ?

You have to pull it as high as they are (up to the knee) and then blood circulates in the leg ?

Oxysox - g_offper.gif

Nice. :)

I have UA socks, but I got the ones that come all the way up over my knees. I couldn't find the crew ones anywhere locally. I like them a lot, but I may give Oxysox a try next time I get a new pair of socks.

Give them enough money and you can be the official anything of the NHL.
