Having recently become a pesco-vegetarian myself (meaning no red meat or poultry, only fish) I was wondering if there were others on MSH, and where they get their protein.

I used to be a vegetarian (or i am, however you want) since 4 years and vegan since ~ 2 and i have no problems getting protein.

When working out I drink soy protein shakes (by Weider) and eat everything a normal person eats, just the vegan way.

Just google around and check pages/message boards, like VeganFitness.net (Havent checked it yet, but read the URL it in interviews)

People saying, it wouldnt be possible, dont know anything. The current bodybuilding worldchamp, Alexander Dargatz, is a vegan as well.

Thanks #21.

Whether or not a food is a GMO always lingers in the back of my mind during meals. Have any of you every tried protein supplements?

Yeah I know... I have to work my way around "churrascos" (traditional Brazilian BBQs)

i miss a good churrascaria. i don't eat much beef, but it's damn good. they're too expensive around here, and not the same.

You have a Texas De Brazil in your area?? They're fantastic, but like you mentioned.... ridiculously expensive.

My GF is a vegan and a nutrition major. I’ll ask her for more info tonight.

I haven’t seen lentils listed in this thread. They are an excellent source of protein. I think Peter Twist recommends lentils in his book. You can easily make them into burgers and loafs.

Also, get some quinoa(linked to wikipedia). It is a seed/grain that is one of the few complete proteins for vegetarians (has all amino acids). It’s really good. My GF makes this dish with quinoa, peanut butter, apples, and raisins. It’s outstanding…great for breakfast.
