I was considering getting these shin guards mainly because of the knee cradle. From those who have had a chance to see them; what are your impressions of them? Are they comparable to any other brand as far as how they fit and feel?

thanks, much appreciated. If you could try to compare them to the vectors it would be perfect... My LHS isn't getting the TPS protective in(besides gloves). :(

I hate the one big strap that they've been using. I would be using TPS shins if it wasn't for that thing.

Seems to be the trend that mfgrs are going towards. The NBH and Missions have big straps as well.

cheaper to sew on fat strap than two thin ones

How well does it lock your knee in? My only issue with my vectors is that my knee moves a bit more than I'd like. Thanks guys. :)

I don't think it locks your knee in at all. it's nice and snug around my calf but floppy at the knee and ankle. Since I don't like to use a lot of tape, it's just not a product for me.

dammit. I want something that locks my knee in better without me needing to tape it or modify-ing the length of the straps. Any recommendations?

Sorry for all the questions today, but thank you soo much. Your help is really appreciated!!!!

You used to be a goalie right? It wouldn't be too difficult to sew some velcro onto the sides of the liner and reproduce a knee lock on butterfly pads. I've done something similar with neoprene on my 6k shins and they work so well I don't even use tape anymore.

yeah, I've done it before(to my roller hockey shins) but it's just extra effort that I don't want to do. I would have done it to my vectors but my team's socks are nice and tight so it holds it in place decently... but it's still sliding more than I'd like since I've had to take the pads out of the skates.

I think my best bet might be the one90 shins, because they have a nice cradle and a knee strap as well as a calf wrap AND the "grip print liner." Also, it has a nice taper near the bottom of the shins so they might fit inside my skates!!!

I bought a pair right when they came out and love them. Best shins I have ever worn. I have had them for over a month now and they have held up well.

no offence but did you expect a shin guard to not hold up well after a month? Besides a few eastons(mainly the ones with the clear plastic) I haven't heard too much in the way of cracking or breaking with recent shin guards.

I'm soo indecisive.

Now they look comfortable as hell. When i think of shinguads, i never think of inside padding at all. Maybe why my Jofas dont have something like that, but it seems very nice on the R8s. Keeing on the ice will be even more fun.

I happened to own a pair of these. I previously had a pair of Bauer 2000's. I think that The R8's are better, in some areas. Yes, the R8's are very comfortable, but not as comfortable as they look. They are very good shin pads, but the only thing i dont like about them is that i dont think that they stay on your leg very well. They have 1 strap on the back with some crappy removable foam back there, and they dont really stay on your legs well, so I have to use some tape. Other than that great shinpad!
