Options for thumbs

Recommended Posts

Alright, I'm in the market for a glove upgrade. Right now I have a pair of old phoenix color pro stock bauer 5000's. The palms are dying off and I need to take action. My main issue is thumb protection. I'm going to be playing junior b/junior a next year and the pricetag will tend to be worth the protection.

With that being said, I don't know of any retail gloves that can really take abuse in the thumb like my current ones can. So does anyone know of gloves that have good thumbs, or where I can find some pro gloves? If I give MIA a call, will they be able to do something for me?

Are just the palms going?

If so, just get them replaced instead of new gloves.

Sande Max Pros have the most protective thumb that I've ever seen.

Including pro stocks?

Most gloves that I see advertised as "pro stock" are just SMU and nothing that special in terms of construction. The base of the thumb on the pair that I have has a plastic insert on top of the padding, then it also has another piece of plastic as part of the internal structure of the thumb. Out near the tip, it has padding over the molded plastic.

The new line of the vector 10.0 have a fairly hearty thumb on them if you can get past the robocop look.

Have you tried them yet? I was wondering how they fit.
