CCM Vector steel

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone has had any problem with the steel in the Vector Pro skates. Last year I had a lot of problems with the steel in my skates cracking. Granted, they were Grafs, and the Cobra steel is far from wonderful, but I was just wondering if I might start having the same sort of problem. Thanks.

Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the softness of the steel on the Vectors. I've had a couple people complain to me about the blade not holding an edge for more than a couple skates. Just wondering

The Graf steel may work for you but it still doesn't hold an edge as well as the other brands.

maybe your right but the forward pitch is so agressive that i think i notice less, if a pair of Bauers need an edge, i will really feel it way more...

Hey Chadd, if I put lightspeeds on my Grafs do you think I would feel more balenced?

i'm not chadd but i can give my imput, put a regular tuuk, since the lightspeeds have a somewhat forward stance

Are the Grafs pitching you too far forward? You have to be a bit more specific about the problem.

A competant pro shop can adjust the pitch on your skates by grinding down the steel at the heel. That only works if you have a good amount of steel left. Lightspeeds may help but some Graf models have a fairly aggressive forward pitch and that may affect you even with a different holder.

JR may know what the best solution would be.

Keep in mind that those Graf skates used to come with Tuuk...

The Tuuk + should stabilize the skate. The fwd pitch is ridiculous on the Cobra.

If you want to keep the Cobra, get some front lifts done.

Ive been wanting to get rid of the corbas anyway so i think I will go with the Tuuk+. I just want to get to a point where i feel normal. Not too tlited forward of not to tillted back.

What about the tuuk lightspeeds are they as pitched forward as the corbas?

While on the subject of putting on Tuuks, how hard is it to put them on? I wanna get them put on my Grafs, but the guy at the rink told me he could do it, but he might not do a great job. Is there a pretty decent chance he could mess things up?

Yes. If the mounting is NOT straight, there's alignment issues. Also, they can force the holder into a 'straight' position, but the mounter may force it, therefore torquing the holder and creating a bend in the steel.

Kosy - I can (big difference between "can" and "could") do it for you. I use a blade bar so that the holder is straight. I've mounted for a few respected members on the board and none of them have had any problems. But then again, they stay quiet b/c they know Chico will LICK them to death...

the fwd pitch on the Cobra feels good to me, makes me strong on the puck, id like to try a tuuk+ but don`t want to mess up my skates

No, the correct phrase is.. "JR will do it for you". He does uber-quality work on rivet jobs. Easily as good or better than factory jobs.
