jro2711 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 i like the 4500 . looks great, fits good and feels great
Sven 1 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 Why would you want to buy that? The 8500 is ugly, while the 4500 is the best looking lid out there. You know that theres something called 'taste'?! And we are in hockey so there is the fit as well but im just talking about the taste of a lot of players.
Dean_ 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2007 4500 helmet is the best bucket I've ever used. Very protective, lightweight, good airflow, looks great, good price. I'll also never get tired of pimping it in helmet threads.i have to agree. but besides the 4500 i would try on a rbk 6k helmet those are very nice as well
tips09 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2007 My Intake looks goofy, but I've never owned a better helmet for comfort and protection. This year my team had intakes supplied for us and for most we agreed that it wasnt the most comfiest helmet we have tried but what we did like about it was that you could really keep your head cool in the helmet with all the air flow
sabre09923 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2007 The one that fits the best is the one you should buy. I personally hated the 5000/8000 fit (kinda squished my head), so I tried on the Intake and fell in love with it. The ventilation is nice and the gel foam is really comfortable, so it makes a good choice. But, again, it is whatever fits best, so go to your LHS and try everything on. Whatever fits best should be what you take home.
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 Whatever fits best should be what you take home. This also applies to last call at the bar.OHH! OHH!! I'll be here all week, try the chourico.

TBLfan 25 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 I just checked out the Vector helmet tonight, looks a lot better in person and it's really lightweight. Nice lid, but it has my usual complaint... EPP.
Fury of One 6 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 I just checked out the Vector helmet tonight, looks a lot better in person and it's really lightweight. Nice lid, but it has my usual complaint... EPP.I thought the same. I hate the EPP foam too, maybe they'll do VN at some point but that'll probably add some weight to it.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 The weight doesn't bother me, I prefer it. Although it was as comfortable as the 8K, which is the only other helmet with EPP that I liked. I was amazed how good the helmet looked, MUCH better looking in person.
Fury of One 6 Report post Posted June 18, 2007 I don't mind the weight either. Like I said before the 4K (obviously not as light as the 8 or 6K), but in my opinion, has to be the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn.
Hockey Player 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2007 OK, so the 4k and 4500 are the VN helmets on my list now, and remain with the 8500, the Intake and the 6k as my EPP choices.I guess I'll just go try them on at the store, and knock a few off my list.

Hockey Player 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Thanks to the person who just did a review on the Intake, it's a bit more help.
blues_91 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 I don't really agree with people saying the 8000 is the most protective helmet. IMO, you should just get the one that's the most comfortable on your head, all the EPP helmets are decently padded. I use both the Intake and the 8000. The Intake is lighter, and has better air flow, but the 8000 has more size adjustments. The protection seems pretty on par (although I have experienced a concussion with the 8000). I also find that the Intake is much narrower at the back, and I causes me to have headaches if I wear a cage, so now I use it with a visor for pick-up.In short, try them all on and buy which fits best, and has the least amount of movement on your head. Hockey Player 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 No helmet is concussion-proof.I knew this already, but I know some prevent head injuries better than others. Compare my HT2 with the Intake, by example.
hunterphfr 12 Report post Posted June 28, 2007 I play in a pretty competitve non-contact league and have rocked more than a few times (I can be a bit of a pest) I've hit the boards and the ice pretty hard several times without even so much as a daze and I only wear a half shield. Hockey player if you haven't already I would go to here http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...showtopic=20650 around 7 very informative Intake reviews all rate it a 9 or 10 of 10. Hockey Player 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2007 Tonight I went to drop by my Local Hockey shop and it was closed due to summer hours. I kept going to check at Sportchek to check some lids. They don't have the 8500, as indicated on their website. They didn't have the Intake or 6k, as indicated on their website, but had the 4k, and the 4500.The 4500's padding is stiff, but not too stiff. Fit my head well. It all depends on the EPP models. If they aren't to my liking, I get the 4500.I wasn't impressed with the 4k. 1st off, fit clip. On most of the boxes, it was either broken or felt like it was going to break.2nd, it's ugly. Instead of the subshells on the side, above the flimsy fit clip, they made it's a rugged plastic surface. The front is really bulky also. It really didn't fit me well. Also, I hated the padding. Next to the shell, it's a rock hard layer of hard black VN foam. Did I mention how hard it was? It was really hard. Just having it on your head made it hurt. Nevermind getting hit or smacking your head against the ice. I pressed as hard as I could with my fingers, it didn't even move. Doesen't absorb the shock like EPP, and what I saw of the 4500. Instead, the shell started to bend. RBK did think about comfort though. Next to your head, is maybe half a centimeter (5mm), even less of single density VN foam, the stuff in the Nike Bauer 3500 and my famous CCM HT2. Why even have that? It's really soft in the models I mentionned above when there's an inch and a half. Try 4 millimeters, that's 4 hairs. Barely any. Too soft, and there's not enough to have any impact protection wise. When you have it on your head, you felt nothing but the really really hard black VN foam. To check the price, it was 99 dollars canadian. I know everything at Sportchek is overpriced, but it should have been 50 canadian. I thought it was maybe the only one like that, that was defective, but no, they are all like that. I don't trust it to save my noggin during impact. The 4k is officially off my list. I prefer my HT2 over that one.Remaining candidates left are in the EPP section, the RBK 6k, the Nike Bauer 8500 and the Mission Intake. Leaning towards Intake. I wonder if the Fit Clip will be the same on the 6k. As VN candidates, the one and only Nike Bauer 4500.EDIT: I don't know if it was Sportchek, but I tried one on at Canadian Tire and it was more comfortable. Fits great now and has withstood a headfirst crash into the corner with no damage (to myself or bucket). There's a reason why the 4500 is one of the most popular helmets in the NHL. Because it's awesome.
