TSN Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

I can't believe that the Red Wings would pass up on Alex Plante to take another offensive minded defenseman. Hes a big bodied defenseman but with Ledba, Kronwall and now Kindl it seems pretty redundant.

Bob Mckenzie's Analysis:

"The rest of the first round of this mock draft did not produce any huge surprises, although it wouldn't shock me if Dave Perron goes higher than No. 23, which is where Dreger took him on behalf of the Predators. "

He's headed for college, so it would be more of a consideration than a pick for next season on Tommy Cross. I'm still confused as to what got this kid such great standing in the draft board. I've played against him and beat him, scored when he was supposed to be tying me up in front...

He's a great kid, good for him, I'm a bit confused where all the hype is coming from though.

I don't know why people are surprised that they have David going at 23rd or whatever. There has been a lot of talk this year about how the draft will be very unpredictable, and that after the first three (or four, but the transfer agreement seems to be screwing the Ruskie) picks its really a toss up who will go where, as most of the mid first rounders are seen as very similar. Just because a player is ranked at 15, it doesn't mean he'll go at 15 or even relatively close. Take David for example. Maybe the teams who are 13-17 are stacked with wingers, but lack defense and centers. I think I speak for everyone on here when I say I want David to get drafted high and do well, but I think its important to remember that not every organization will offer the same opportunities. Its impossible to accurately predict what teams need what and which players they really truly like. These mock drafts always seem worthless to me.

Not to mention the fact that teams drafting later are usually better teams. It's not a bad thing to go to a team that is already a playoff caliber team.

Especially considering that most consistent playoff teams usually don't have as much depth with their prospects than non-playoff teams do.

Imagine the success Rick Nash would be having if he were drafted to a team like the Penguins instead of Columbus.

The Pens probably wouldn't have been the worst team in the league long enough to draft Crosby, Malkin, Staal, etc...

I thought someone might say that, I just thought of the pens first when I thought of skilled.

Where do you play? And I doubt it went down exactly like you said it did. He has size, he can move the puck well, he does everything well, and not to mention the fact that he is a 9/89 which makes him one of the younger players in this draft. In addition to wherever you played against him, Cross has also played for team USA U17 and U18 teams the past 2 summers and has done well in international competition. Put with better players is where his skills really shine.

Glad to see that someone has picked Logan Couture in the top 10. I've played with him for 6 years, and can't wait to see where he goes in the draft....as long as it isn't Toronto :P
