NHL unveiled new uniforms today

There's an article in today's Boston Globe stating, "Today, the Boston Bruins will unveil the new Reebok uniform, the first NHL team to show off the sleek look with tighter-fitting jerseys and advanced moisture technology."

Hadn't other teams already presented this uniform? Anyway, the line that got me was the opening paragraph, "The National Hockey League is hoping a dose of high-tech design and a dollop of fashion will help revitalize a sport deemed too dull by many fans south of the Canadian border."

I understand this is a business, but articles like this make the NHL appear like a jilted lover who was way better than her ex, but wants him back anyway. Trap or no trap, I've take enough newbies to the game who fell in love with it, to know that anyone who's seen the game wouldn't call it a dull sport. Yet, an article like this makes the NHL smack of desparation. As if someone will turn to her husband and say, "Honey, I just read the NHL will have more fashionable uniforms next year. We really should catch a game -- maybe it will be a lot better than last time."

Seriously, have some self-respect that the game is a great game and let it grow at its own pace.

Hey, whatever it takes. Maybe with the new unis it will be easier to catch numbers when watching on tv, make it a little easier for folks to figure out who's who.

While it is embarassing that they the NHL is promoting new jerseys just for new "fans", those new caps jerseys look great

i really like the lace up necks on the bruins jerseys, i was afraid the edge jerseys would do away with the laces completely

I'm glad I don't get the Globe, then. In fact, I don't waste my time with any of those things you call "Newspaper".

But man, those Eagles on the shoulders of the Caps jerseys are uggggly! The bruins jersey doesn't look that good either, but the best looking uniforms in the world couldn't keep them from looking bad either. I just stopped watching them halfway through the year, unless they were up against good competition (Ottawa, Buffalo).

Hockey isn't dull at all. There's way more offense (and defense) and skill shown in one hockey game than in an entire football game (my opinion may be a little biased), and when a particularly good game is being played, there are little or no stoppages (pretty much all of the other sports, barring soccer, can't say that). And then there's baseball, which plenty of people still watch, and it's a very deliberate, slow moving sport at times (a bit hypocritical here, as I play baseball too). So, what, pray tell, is their definition of "dull"?

I like the Caps jersey. You can notice the outline of the Capital building in there, but it would be better if they had stars going down the arms.

I don't know I kind of liked Caps away jersey with the eagle. It would be cooler if they went with home reds like they have now but aways should have been flashier white eagles that they used this sesson.

its odd i notice that the b's and caps jerseys have no shoulder numbers or front numbers, but the isles have both

I like the new Caps jerseys. I like the shoulder patches on the Bs jerseys. However, I have never liked laces on jerseys--I don't even like them on my pants (or on the old school gloves).

Probably because they're just plain jerseys without numbers or names embroidered yet.

Those Isles' jerseys are ugly. The other two aren't as bad.

If you look at the bottom where the wings go up towards the head, it looks like an outline or forms, what seems to be the capital building.

love the new boston uniforms theyve kept with the design pretty much and it looks nice, same goes for colombus but the caps and islanders look awful! more annoyed at the caps one seeing as im a caps fan and only recently bought a home jersey but o well if they want the team to look like clowns...
