Who Makes Deep or High Volume Boot?

Recommended Posts

I'm headed to my LHS later today to shop for some new skates, and I started wondering: which boots are typically considered deep (high volume)? (For example, I've read that Graf 703/704 are deep.)

I often have that same type question and wrote this down from another thread for reference:

The Kors are "deep fitting" Meaning that your foot goes down very snugly, leaving a lot of boot to cover the sides of your foot up. Usually this will change the way the laces look. You can tell how deep a boot is by how wide across the laces are when they are tied correctly. If you measure across the width of the laces, the wider that is, the shallower your boot is. If you try another skate and lace it up correctly, and the laces are narrower, that means that the boot is deeper.

That's consistent with what I've read before,... there should be a thread somewhere deep in the forums about measuring the correct volume for your feet.

If I remember it right:

If you lay a pencil across the 3rd or 4th eyelet from the top of your boot, your foot shouldn't make contact with the pencil. If your foot is touching the pencil then the boot is not deep enough for your foot. (Anyone remember this?)

Thanks for the info on the Kor's. Any other boots that have a pretty deep fit?

Actually, the Graf 703/704 skates are their lowest volume/depth boots. If you would like to try a "deep" Graf boot the 709 is one as is the Ultra G9 and the Ultra G70 (available in X-wide) and last the unique 707 and partner Ultra G7. Good Luck with your hunt.

RBK's are deep. On the Bauer line, the 8090's are also on the deep side.

Well, the Supreme 70's are pretty much the equivalent of the 8090's (same fit), so look for those too.

Is x-wide a custom order on the G-70's??

It's a stock size in the Ultra G-70 model.

Thanks again guys - I'm on my way.

I'm looking at some of the mid-range stuff so I'll remember to put a review in once i get some time on the skates (I've noticed the review section's pretty light on mid range skates).

As far as mid-range skates go, in most cases all skates in a line will fit similarly.

For example, a rbk 5k will fit similarly to a rbk 9k.
