Question about mission toxic 2 shaft

Recommended Posts

So, I was up getting my skates sharpened at lunchtime (going 5/8 based on recommendations of some here), and I saw Mission Toxic 2 shafts, senior for $54.99.

I had never heard of them. Is that a good price for that shaft. I ask because I was looking for regular/whip flex, and they have them in 85.

I've never heard of them before.

Also, the RBK 5k snake grip, phaneuf curve OPS was there, it is, hands down, the nicest graphics job I have ever ever seen on a stick, simply fantastic.

Cheers

I believe that the Toxic 2 replaced the Axis and Z-2s of years past. Besides that, I don't know much about them... They are mid/low range gear though, although that may be what you're looking for.

Justin and JR can probably help you more.

I think you are the first person I have met that has actually liked the snakegrip.

I'd be the second.

I never owned a snakegrip stick, but liked the idea and feel of it in the LHS. I picked up a Nipple Grip AK27 recently and am definitely a fan of the "tactile grip."

I think Smokey was alluding to the graphics more than the grip, though.

back on topic:

I haven't seen the toxic in stores yet, but HG has them for $59.99

It's a pricepoint tapered combo, something that you just don't see. A great idea from Mission, IMO, and every mission stick/shaft I've had has performed well.

Owned 2 Biomorphic Danglers, both of which lasted over 2 years. Have a pro L-2 (fused to be a OPS, broke the blade and is now a tapered shaft), and a pro stock fuel grip tapered shaft (was a OPS, I found it in the trash at the rink recently and chiseled it out) it looks like this will be my primary for the time being since I broke my Dolomite.

I've also tried a friend's Ion and although the blade in it was too heavy for the shaft, it was also nice.

I wish the Fuel was going to be in tapered shaft form, like they said it would be. MikeO lied to me man, he lied to me ;)

I'll try the V-Hex sometime though, as long as it feels good in my hands. It looks pretty nice, and it comes in tapered shaft+blade form.

Ah, it's a tapered, I did not know that, I didn't see it marked on the shaft anywhere so I assumed it was a standard. I have no tapered blades.

As for the 5K, it was purely astethics, graphics are fantastic.

Are tapered shafts tapered on both ends? If I don't need an end plug, can I flip it and use that end for the blade?

You can flip it but that kind of defeats the purpose of a tapered shaft. At that point, I would just shop around for a standard shaft.

It is just a price point item, but the Toxic has been a great seller so far out here in California. At first with the graphics I thought only kids would buy it, but we have been selling a ton to adults as well. Mostly newer players making their first OPS or shaft purchase. For that price they can justify a few extra bucks over getting a wood stick.

I second that. That stick and the r2/r4 have been our top sellers. Nice stick for the price. Kicks the hell out of the Axis. Much more sturdy feeling stick.

Anyone else been using these?

Got one as a warranty replacement for my L-2 (which lasted two icetimes) and this one broke on the 2nd slapshot I took, RIGHT above the tenon.

Maybe something to do with the super short tenon on the L-2 blade I put in it?

Or just a bad stick. I had a teammate who has had one for 2 seasons now. Hardly a scratch on it.

No v-hex on the warranty for that one. Just wish the toxic2 didnt break in the warmups last game, since I'm a bit suspicious about these mission sticks now

ninja edit: superstitious =/= suspicious
