Most wrecked up stick blade you've continued using

Recommended Posts

I used to use woodie replacement blades on my TPS RedLite shaft and found that if it splintered or split even just a little bit, I would replace it pronto. Now I've started using some OPS, I find I'll tolerate ridiculous amounts of damage.

One of my Eastons right now have a splintered part that's snapping off 1/4 of the bottom of the blades. It's definitely messing with my feel for the puck and my shot release feels way off. I've got nothing on the guy on my last rec team that used his Sherwood OPS until the toe of the blade was wiggling and threatened to fall right off!

Do you usually replace sticks/blades when the blade has an inch or more of splitting/splintering?

My current Sickick has been pretty badly chipped. Maily the blade at the toe. I am talking maybe loosing a couple of inches of blade area. It has really been noticable on the ice as of late too. By far the worst conditioned blade I have ever used.

I had a Vapor XX with a huge crack in it, you could flex the blade pretty easily. But the thing still worked, so I kept using it. Eventually I just got bored with the pattern and wanted a new stick so I chopped it off and sold the shaft.

i just broke the worst one i had tonight..,, the heal on my st was split all the way up to the fuse point. right at the heal there was no more carbon fiber... the blade was splitting down toward the toe and the toe was all chipped up... and there was a nice chunk off the top of the blade from someone stepping on it... probably still had a little life in it but i was angered from hitting literally 5 posts on essentually empty nets, so i broke it. so anyways now i have a nice tappered shaft to use.

had a easton cyclone shaft that cracked at the end of the shaft. I just cut that part off, and used a blade with a shaved tenon. Continued for about 3 months before it just went bust with a nice snapper.

I had some woody with a plastic blade (Nike V4 maybe) that I used in a mini outdoor tourney me and a few guys had, I changed the curve to my own creation over a BBQ one night and wore it down to a tooth pick the next day playing, I'll try and take pics.

On the subject of wrecked sticks and blades, my Warrior Dolomite blade is developing an awkward bulge on the backhand side. anyone else have this happen?

That sounds strange haha. Can you post a pic of it?

I've seen that with wood blades but I can't recall it ever happening to me with a comp blade.

Yes, that's kind of how my Vapor went, it looked like it was bubbling out because a big chunk was flaking off.

I have a teammate who has sawed off about a quarter of his blade because it cracked or chipped at the toe. I'm not really sure how thats working out for him, he sanded it enough so its legal/not dangerous...but just weird.

I had a teammate who had at least two inches chipped off the toe and he just taped over it.

Another one had a XXXlite with the blade being literally as soft as cardboard.

I've got a stealth with about an inch and a half hole on the heel, my shot doesn't even seem to be suffering much. I also have another one with a bunch of stuff sticking out the toe which I fold and tape over.

I have a SL that has the toe of the blade broken and fraying. the blade is almost cut in half and i still somehow still manage to use it. but enough is enough and im going to cut off the blade. now i need to find out how to chisel out the carbon fiber without wrecking the shaft.
