Didn't the Jofa 9800 (European pant) work just like that, but there was supposed to be some legal prohibition keeping them out of north American market? (Just checked the Jofa Sweden site and now almost everything on it is RBK, from jocks to even the bandy sweatsuits)

An "evolution" such as this makes me glad that I mainly play Inline.... It will be intresting to see how this edge deal goes, and how far down the system it trickles...

9800 was a two-piece pant. It had to be released in NA as a full pant.

Good info, thanks for the post. I'm in need of new pants but I'm holding off to see how all this sorts itself out. Yes I'm a latent buyer...I just hope my old CCM Supra's have another year in them!

I think it's all pretty slick. My only reservation was if they changed the original 6 jerseys or had those stupid arm stripes like the Swift jerseys, and it doesn't look like that's going to happen at all.

And if they make a short sleeve version of that under shirt and don't charge $100 for it, I may pick one up.

They look almost like the Jofa 9800 pant. The Jofa 9800 are super pants. I've been playing in they fore a season now i love them.

I took a look at the pants last week and they are probably the most comfortable pants i've tried on. I'm not really one that complains of the weight of pants but the 9K's feel like they have bricks hooked onto them.

the pants look pretty nice, since they have the cup built in do they have velcro to hold up your socks too? and they're really that heavy? they don't look like they really would be.

edit: those socks look pretty bad, so loose and weird.

hmm.. i wonder how the other brands will respond to this?

I don't like this new tight fitting stuff at all, i want my pants to sit really loose, hanging on my hips. Same with the shin pads (i only fasten them with one strap just below the knee)..

I like tight fitting shoulder pads but that's it..

Long live the good ol'e baggy hockey jerseys, and loose fitting gear :)

the RBK 8K pants are adjustable like that

i dont really like the socks too much though
