$13M per team salary cap increase in two years. The business of the NHL is booming. If they can keep attendance where it was last year it's going to go way up next year. All of the new merchandise is going to result in a huge revenue increase.

My Canucks 1/2 season ticket package (that I share with a group of friends) went up 13% this year. I'm getting to my limit! $72 bucks per seat for upper bowl, row 4 is getting really steep! Then add in $9 beers and it's a $200 outing when my wife and I go.

The Vancouver Giants junior (WHL) team is looking pretty tempting nowadays...

The lockout was for cost certainty for the owners. :D And for leveling the playing field for all the GMs. :D

But without the lockout and the Cap, you'd still have some teams spending 65-70Mil+ while others spends 30 or less. At least in this system, EVERYONE is between $40-50M.

It's less of a haves and have nots league.

holy shit that is crazy... My seat last year was $21 a game, third row, upper deck, asisle, on the corner of the rink. I know theres a difference with the exchange rate, but still. I think even center ice seats here in the upper deck are right around $45 a game

How is the league intending to grow when it is pricing regular people, especially families, out of the arenas? Where's the next generation of hockey fans going to come from?

That requires long term planning and as long as corporations keep buying tickets and boxes, the NHL isn't going to address that "problem".
