Can anybody help me deturmine my glove size

Recommended Posts

This may be strange and not enough information for someone to accurately deturming my glove size, but I last purchased gloves 3 years ago and they are torn to hell but I can't remember for the life of me what size they are.

None of my LHS has size above 13'' and I know that is too small. I tried to measure the way I read I was supposed to on inlinewarehouse.com but the measurments I was coming up with were just weird

If anyone can look at this picture that measures my hand/forearm length and help me out I would be very appeciative.

I am about 5'10.5'' tall, but I think I have pretty big hands/long arms..I am leaning toward 15'' gloves but I really don't know. Just don't want to pick the wrong size when I order my vapor XX's.

I think with gloves, the feel is more important than actual "I have a 12" forearm, so I need a 12" glove..." type of mentality. Personally I like a good amount of protection from slashes, pucks, etc on my arms so I go with 15", but I don't think my forearms are longish.

Just go with what feels the best and protects you to how you want. If you go short cuff, and want some protection, you can always get wrist guards or longer elbow pads.

Just my 2 American cents.

take a soft tape measure or string. Take your old gloves and close the hand like it's holding something. Measure from the middle finger to the end of the cuff. That will give you the appox. size of your old gloves.

Glove fit is completely personal preference. My hands are bigger than yours and I use 14" gloves, but I should probably be using 15-15.5" gloves.

I agree with this.

You could also wear your elbow pads and then measure from the end of the pad to the end of your fingers. I think that'd probably be a better measure. It'd also give you an idea of where the gloves with start/end in relation to your elbow pads.

Every manufacturer's glove sizing is different, too. You said you want Vapor XXs... unless you have HUGE paws, or like loose-fitting gloves with lots of room in the fingertips, I'd recommend a 14". My hands are 8" from fingertip to wrist (longer than yours, based on your pic) and I was most comfortable in a 14" Vapor--but I like tighter-fitting fingertips, I still want to be at the ends when I have my hand closed around my stick. For comparison, a 15" Easton glove from 2 or more years ago was too short in the fingers, but I almost bought a 13" Mission M1 when my shop closed them out.

but what about finger length? I have pretty long fingers and worry that they will jam at the end. Should your fingers be touching the end of the gloves when you wear them? After posting this I went out and found a little shop in a hockey rink nearby and they had 14in Vapor X's...I am not sure how comparable the fit is to XXs but while they felt kinda comfortable, my fingers were pushing the tips of the gloves.

plus i dunno if anyone noticed it but the ruler doesn't exactly line up with my middle finger, kinda half an inch further down. To the guy who said he has 8in hands fingertip to wrist, I believe mine are pretty much 8in as well if you move the ruler to the correct alignment.

You may want to look at a 14" glove with longer fingers-

You usually want your fingers to be pretty comfortable in the glove so they can reach the end of the fingertips. They should also feel comfortable when you hand is closed around a stick.

ok...like what?

Go back to the store, stand in front of all the gloves, and proceed to try a lot of them on. It also helps if you have a stick to feel what it'd be like to hold a stick wearing the gloves.

Or a bigger size glove with tighter fingers, like the One70, One90, CCM Vector series, and RBK gloves.

I went back to that shop today and tried on some other gloves.

I found that the Warrior Dolmite 14s fit me pretty well and so did the TPS HLT Pro i think they are called also fit well in 14.

Is it a safe bet for me that the Vapors will fit similarly to these gloves? Not talking about loose/tightness of course...just size fit.

Now having realize that I am most likely a 14''...I cannot get the XX or XXXs because the only site that has them at an affordable price only has them in 15s.

I am thinking of the XVs now. They are going for 58 dollars at this site and I am just wondering how good these gloves are.

They are a good quality glove. At the time they were one of the best gloves for the money... pretty darn popular. If you don't mind going a little tighter, I'd recommend the supreme70s; since the same site has them for only a little more.

I would get the One70s, but I have to stay to a team color for the NCRHA rules. That is also the reason I can't get the XXs anymore, they have plenty of XXs in 14...but none in just plain black (i need black/white/yellow only)

I was considering just buying a pair of XX that were like black and red and painting the red part, but when I researched the correct method for painting leather it seemed kinda hard.

wrt to this, I tried measuring myself as many sites suggest and there is only 10" between the bottom of my S5 elbows and my finger tips. So, are my elbows just extremely long or is something messed up here?

Currently, I wear Vapor XV 13"...

If you feel comfortable wearing your gloves, then I wouldn't worry about it. Those measuring tools are more like guidelines; ignore them if you're already set with gloves.
