Large calves, which shin guard works?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the replies!

Anyone on the One90's or Easton S9? Again, I'm not so concerned with the calf guard, but if the shin guard is too "narrow" to fit into.

The One90's are a narrow shin pad as are the S9's. Your best bet is RBK/JOFA.

Philip Morris USA keeps food on my table.

ramen sandwiches hardly qualifies as food ;)

IMO you haven't lived until you've had roast beef and cheese between two semi-soft slabs of ramen, with soy sauce on top and a monster on the side :D

rbk/jofa, i have big calves, i couldn't even squeeze into eastons, don't go down that road.

I hear ya, and thanks!

Again...thanks to everyone for your timely responses and insite.

Looks like I'm going with the RBK 9K.

Now if I could just figure out what elbow pads to get!

Like it says, I have lean legs, with rather large calves. Without being able to try these on, are some shin guards better than others for larger calves?

There are only a couple of options at my LHS and none of the ones I'm interested in. I'm looking at RBK 8K, Easton S9, or the NB One90. Thanks!

I have no idea, but I think you kinda stole my username ;) :D

That's OK though.

Sorry Hockey Player, didn't know you were out there...haha

That's OK. lol, haha

wow you guys have some huge calves.

anyhoo i recommend the ccm vector shin pads. my legs are 15.5" around at the largest point, and even when i tighten them as far as possible, they're still loose on me.

and hockeyplayer, don't make fun of our tobacco state. Philip Morris USA keeps food on my table. nice to see another msh'er from nc though. btw what LHS do you go to? it might be a place i'd like to check out.

haha, my arms are a little bigger than 16" flexed. I'm a monster... it's from football mainly. Like 5 years ago, I was a hair shorter(about 6') and I could grab a 10' rim.

Yes, I'd like a cookie.

You and me both. Played running back for 2 years, and then 4 years of corner in high school. Liked that much better.....putting a bullseye on a wide out versus having a bullseye on my chest!!!

What where you playing?

Go with Jofa/rbk.. best fit and best protection.

LB for a couple years and sometimes/rarely FS. Oddly enough my best position was QB, because I have a gun, am very accurate and I can read defenses well... But I "don't have the right build to be a QB."
