SCATMAN

People thoughts on Mission 95AG skate....

Recommended Posts

Although I'm a CCM/Easton guy I've had a little exposure to Mission skates and find them a pretty decent product. The AG 95 is third from the top of their line which makes them about the equivilent to the CCM 892 or the Easton Synergy 900 both very decent skates. Mission generally makes a good product and gives you a little more in the way of features than some of the other major manufacturers so they can compete. The big plus with these skates is the Pitch 3 blade holder and their solid stainless steel blade. The composite outsole doesn't hurt either. Whatever Mission uses for the outside of their boot is solid as well and of course the fit is very comfortable. This a a very good skate and should last you for quite a while and it performs well on the ice. Not a bad buy IMHO.

You get a few little extra in the way of features as you go up the line. The 120 and 110 offer a little more of an improved tongue and of course clarino liner inside, which is the in a lot of the pros opinion, the best liner for comfort, and it resists moisture buildup. As with a lot of other skates the higher up the line you go the stiffer the skate as well, there will be more in the way of composite stiffeners in the higher end models, although with Missions all their boots are fairly solid. Before Easton came out with their composite carbon boot, Mission had some of the most innovative ideas in boot technology and they are still coming up with some unique materials and designs for their skates. Missions aren't as flashy as the new Nike/Bauer One/90s or the Easton Stealth S series skates but they are still a decent skate and very reasonably priced compared to some of the other major manufacturers. My only reservation I have about them is they are a slimmer fit that I am used to, even in their EE size, which is why I don't wear a pair. Otherwise I would definitely buy and own a pair because they are good skates.

Keep in mind that the fit/performance concept of the AG line is a bit different than most traditional skates. The skates are stiff and supportive down low, and offer flexibility to the ankle for a free range of motion. Read up on the "Supplefit" concept for more info. Those who skate them swear by them. Other skates with the Supplefit concept include mission S500 and I believe the Pure fly. Graf's 707 offers a similar concept, but different execution. Check the reviews for more info as well.

I'm using the 110s (that year's high end model), and I am impressed by this skate for performance, but disapointed in it's durability. The forefoot has gone soft quickly, especially on the left skate, and the although the outsole holds in the boot, it is easily bendable. I wouldn't expect the durability of the 95s to be that good at all.

the durability is not good at all... used for like 3 months and there wearing very fast... i just adjusted the pitch to +1 so im leaning foward more and ill let you know if it changes how i think of them...

Im a very bent over/leant foward skater and these skates just make me feel kinda funny when im really trying to move... compared to inline...
