really is no black or white answer, whatever you find fits you the best. but i would suggest looking around for maybe a pair of XIX's or XXX's reduced because they are discontinued, possibly even a pro tack or something along those lines, you catch my drift.

In that price range just about any popular brand of skate that fits your foot probably is a good bet. In fact if you just play pickup or non-serious league hockey it's just about the perfect price range for a decent pair of skates. That's not to say these skates can't be used for serious play but all I'm saying is your in the perfect price range for a decent performing and decent quality ice skate. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get half decent equipment although some guys believe top of line is the only thing that will give you an edge over your competition. It's not the equipment that makes the player but definitely the other way around.

Does it matter? It's moreless the same.

I'm not sure of your foot size but if your senior try vapor xix and if your jr go crazy because you'll get any pair.

If you're buying in store? yes.

Vapor XXV in Canada is like 399.99 and probably 300 in the states.

the exchange rate is only something like $.04 on the dollar now, so unless they just over charge you canadians.......

As for the skate, just buy whatever fits your foot the best. No matter what you buy, they all preform close to the same, and they are all going to look beat to hell in a couple months. So just go for pure fit.

also, If you can try skates on at your LHS, sometimes you can find a good deal on previous years clearance models at online stores...just something to think about.

I paid $310 for my Vapor XXV's and they are a great skate for the money IMO...

I'd have to agree with Remman. I purchased my XXV's at the local HockeyGiant here in Minnesota, $265. Love the skate. Wore them for 45min - 1hr for 4 days, then baked them once. No pain at all during the first skate.

I had not been a fan of Bauer sine Nike purchased them, many years ago. These skates may get me to look at more NBH products.

I'd look more closely at closeouts on older models a year or two old. Hockeyworld has some pretty good deals on '05 Vectors...the sizes are always hit and miss on closeout skates, but you can get a lot better quality for the money that way. I have a pair of pro tacks that I got for $150 on closeout, which would have sold north of $400 new. Depends what you want though, I suppose I don't really look as cool as the guys with the new one90s, XXXXs or 9k's...but I don't really care.

Items in Canada is still priced as if our dollar is worth 60cents US. Also, we have a different market economy in Canada as items here may not be as easy to get in the states. Lower population, less stores, manufacturing locations, and numerous other factors. There was a thread about this recently.

Drive down to Kirkland, blues...lots of skates on clearance there... Vector 10.0 for 350, RBK for cost + 20% (9K's were going for 370 I think). And of course, you get a much better deal for the XXV there too.
