wallin2199 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2007 What A Puck is a pretty good product. It runs smooth on nice grounds such as linoleum or smooth concrete. I am pretty sure most of these products use the same technology so whichever you feel most comfortable with...and come on...how can you go wrong with JR? leafs1967 2 Report post Posted August 1, 2007 I have used the Smart Hockey balls for 2 years now. Ha sthe same weight and balance as a puck. Well worth the investment. Van usually pick them up with the training discs for under $20.

For me there is no down time in transfering from a puck to a smarthockey ball and back, unlike a golf ball (for me).

dbeck 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Is it really THAT good? They are $10 at either Cyclone or The-sports-exchange...I always wanted to get them but not too sure if they are of any use...do you guys just use them on carpet at home?
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 They work find one short carpet but they work really well on hard surfaces. Epuck had a deal with a smarthockey ball and a swedish wooden ball, the wooden ball is lighter and moves fast. It works like a golf ball but it doesn't bounce as much, it's a nice contrast. Jarick 5 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 I know I should try it myself, but I just moved and the only flat surface are those Pergo vinyl floors that are really sticky. Smart Hockey Ball is REALLY slow on there.Any ideas on something that would be faster on the sticky floor?
trox_355 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 I'll back the smarthockey ball too.The only thing i've found is when trying to stickhandle a bit too quickly, I'll put my stick down on the top of the ball. With the ball, the stick just slides off the side and you keep going. On a puck, this would cause you to land on top and lose it. I agree with what other people have said: use the ball for technique and finesse, not speed.I also tried a Flypuck but haven't used it too much because1. Unless you have ridiculously smooth concrete (think garage floor), it doesn't slide too well.2. It's loud3. It tends to flip over4. It doesn't move nearly as well as a ballAlso, a few other bits of wisdom.Jarick, try a golf ball or one of those Swedish wood balls. Lighter, quicker, and it should roll easier on vinyl.
