Ya I listen to O.A.R. a lot. I think they are an awesome band.

I listen to a lot of different music, mostly rock, but I like to mix it up alittle bit too.

i cant stand punk rock, the newer alternative, like incubus, is cool.

Emo is short for "emotional." It's a dumb term for bands that took punk songs and sang about girls breaking their hearts instead of how f'd up the government is.

I basically refuse to listen to the radio becuase all of the radio stations around here are syndicated, and they basically play crap. I personally don't how music has become based on how you look or your personal crap (Nirvana seemed to bring alot of personal crap into their music). Having a part time musician as a father has really opened my eyes to music. Bands are selling out big time. For instance, Nickleback fans might not like to hear this but their rythem guitar isn't played live for the most part, it's usually a taping. Also if anyone has ever went to their concerts and seen the "Marshall" stacks they play, if you were to take a walk behind them you would see dummie written on them and a huge wall of Vox amps (Basically since Vox doesn't pay you to play their amps, and Marshall does they pretend thats what they are playing. Like mentioned before bands are only in it for the money, I heard once Slipknot only wanted to stay around for a few albums so they could make enough money to be set for life. If you were to go back and ask Jimmy Hendrix to do that he would probably have laughed in your face and asked if you were joking. Musicians should be in the business for the love of sharing their talent with others, and using their talent to their full extent. Do you really think Jimmy Page half-assed a solo, or Pink Floyd ever half-assed and entire album? I personally don't.

Anyways I'm going to quit here because I could go on and on and on and it just wouldn't end, LOL.

now adays bands just lip sing and gay fake shit like that.

i can imagin they probly use computers to change how they sound when making an album.

I'm just glad that Velvet REvolver formed, some good stuff there harking back to the good old GnR and STP stuff.... but who was it that mentioned The Darkness in a thread about good music.

Furthermore the whole scene is going Blinging. I have no problem with the culture and the attitude n stuff, but seriously some of the music and what is passed as tunes really suck. I heard one on the way home, the song was called 'tipsy', well by song i mean something other than talking from the DJ.

Yes, most of the stacks on stage are dummies and there for looks more than any useful purpose. When stacked and turned on the top cabinet can cause all kinds of problems with mics, not to mention shred the hearing of anyone onstage. You generally won't find the other amps backstage as most musicians like to be able to fiddle with the knobs and use the amp as a monitor.

Vox is a terrible example because of their distinctive sound, very few people use them anymore as they don't have a very wide array of tones. On tour most bands use Marshalls because they don't want to take their good studio amps on the road and a Marshall is like a Bic lighter, you can get another one in any town.

As for lip synching, can anyone explain why Aerosmith has 3-4 mics on stage and has five part harmony, even when two of the guys aren't even close to the mics? I'm so disappointed in them live.

A huge wall of Vox's behind the cabinets, talk about being pointless. You don't gain that much in stage volume by having more than two. I'll be the first to admit there may be A band that does something like that but I've been backstage with enough major bands to know that if they use a Vox, it's generally for a specific tone on one or two songs. Hell, Joe Perry used to take 15 or so amps on the road with him, each was used for certain tones during certain songs.

I have only seen this for one band. The owner of my local guitar shop has told me a few other storites about other bands doing similar things (playing Schecter Tele's but having Fender on the head stock and such). I can't remember the name but I have to go get SG today (it needed a set up) and so I will double check the name.

Fender would actually sue someone for putting their logo on another guitar. I've seen that happen. They will make a custom model exactly like an artists favorite model though. There are a few guitarists who play pieced together guitars, just because they get to choose what they parts they want. Clapton's most famous strat, blackie, was pieced together from a bunch of different strats.

It wasen't pieced together it there was a story behind it, I will find out the whole story today and post it. It was really werid but I was just couldn't believe that some one would do that. It was for big gigs and a photo shoot only if I remember correctly.

It had to do with publicity, and the fact that for some reason he just wouldn't play Fender. I don't know why I can't remember his name. It was the same deal with a few bands who were playing Jacksons before Fender bought them out, now they play ESP's. I guess some people have a real hate on for Fender. I personall like them. Seem to be consistantly made unlike some other companys.

It's really hard to find a terrible new American Fender, it's also hard to find an excellent one. 90% of the are ok, that's a production line for you. Handmade guitars tend to vary a lot more, but ones made by excellent luthiers come out excellent a bit more often.
