tackla pant fit

Recommended Posts

I know Tackla pants fit snugger than most. I have a pair of easton extreme size 50. When I tried a pair of tacklas 50 it seemed like they did not fit. Is this normal and how snug are they supposed to be?

It's European cut. There's more leg taper than your Eastons. The angle in the hip is more aggressive, so it can feel odd standing straight. The hip pads are anatomically curved, so that makes the pant feel closer to you. Plus the 5000 pro has the thickest kidney padding. It becomes a tight squeeze when you do up both belts because it closes the kidney pads into a narrow column. The foam will soften only a little over time. It's supposed to be snug, so I think the 50 would work. But if you prefer them a little loose and there's less than a one inch gap at the top of the lace, get the 52. Any bigger and I'm afraid the padding will be oversized. If you can't move freely, or there isn't enough room in the belly, then maybe Tacklas aren't for you.

Yes they do fit snug however they will breakin and you'll love them. I have the same pants and thought the same thing but after a couple of skates I was happy I didnt go a size up. You can always open the leg zippers and leave the top belt loose. Hope this helps.

I have the 5000 Air and I moved up to a 54. I wear a 52 in my Easton S-5's and find the fit perfect but if I move up to a 54 with Easton the pants feel way too bulky and I feel like I'm swimming in them. With my Tacklas I've found the opposite. They fit slightly looser than my Eastons (in a 52) but I don't feel awkward in them because of the tighter fit around the waist area. In fact I feel they keep me cooler because the looser fit at the bottom allows for better air flow and gives me a bit better mobility. The protection with the Tacklas is decent as well . not as good as Easton but still pretty impressive for a Europeon pant.

I find the 5000 and the ACS 9000s to fit to my exact waist size. I am a 32 waist, so the 50 fits me perfect (31 to 32 inches). The 52 was way too big, and the 48 was way too small.

Not to hijack the post, but it seems a good place to ask:

What's the difference between the 9000 and 5000? Based on the Tackla home page it looks like the difference is just in the 1-piece vs. 2-piece construction and additional foam in the hip and ribs? If I'm right, is the 5000 therefore heavier than the 9000?

Does anyone know the difference between the tackla pants on the finish website and the ones you can buy here? IE difference between TP 2440 and 5000 Pro?

Thanks

The 5000 is a heavier pant, but is also more comfortable, and falling on your ass is like a dream. They are just wonderful.....if you like the euro fit. I feel like I am in clown pants when I try on NA fit pants.

Ok, So I treied the 5000 pro and the 9000 acs in a 50 and they both fir well. I really like the pro return 5000 on. The question I have is standing up the bottom comes up to just under the top of my knee cap and when I bend 2-4 inches above the knee is exposed. is this too short? I went and tried my regular pants and noticed I wear them high anyway. I read on the Tackla website it can come 2-3 inches above the knee? I really like the way the 5000 suck into my hips so well.
