Super Star 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 Just wondering where do people practice their shooting off ice and what they use - a real puck, roller hockey puck, ball or something else and what stick. And where people that don't have garages or a goal set up in their back yard do their sooting?
clarke-BOH 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 I use a metal hockey net, a large sheet of plastic to shoot the pucks off of, and weighted pucks. As for the stick i use an old shaft and a wood blade.

sabre09923 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 Skillpad+Net in my backyard. Only stretches about 50 feet end to end, but that's perfect for long range practicing. I've tried stickhandling in my basement, but I found out that my smartballs actually roll better on my skillpad, for some reason. Now I stickhandle outside.Use my game stick to shoot too! Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 Smooth concrete in my 2 car garage, pull all the cars out, and I have a 4x8 piece of plywood against the wall with a goal painted on there and the "holes" that I want to hit. In the few years I have been doing it....only shot 2 pucks through the sheet rock. :P
BK 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 Right now I wreak havoc on the hardwood floor in my breakfast room (Cheap hardwood floor job..). It scuffs but if you use a well taped up stick, its easy to remove the scuffs. When we finally buy a place, I am going to get a practice net and paint my garage floor with protective paint. I used to use a ball until I found a weighted slide puck at my lhs.
chikinpotpie 137 Report post Posted August 23, 2007 I usually practice doing shots at the pub down the street.
Dougie8 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 I practice out on my back deck. It has a roof over it so I can go out in the rain and in the winter. I use a official sized metal net. A sheet of plexi glass (my dad used to travel around to baseball and hockey tournaments and have a hardest throw/shot, winner would win a stick or glove or something. He used the plexi glass for hockey tournaments out in the parking lot, so i'm not sure where he got it from.) I just use my regular sticks out there because the plastic isnt hard on them at all.
