OhMyGodImOnFire 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 I've been playing football on astroturf for the past week for my high school, and after every session these tiny black things are stuck to my socks. I'm pretty sure it's ground up rubber, according to people and the web site. But the problem is, I have to pick them out of my socks every time I have a used pair that needs to be washed. LkptTiger 1 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 Like FieldTurf-type stuff? I've played baseball on it, and I don't think that there is going to be much you're able to do. I can, however, tell you that if you're going to want to dive, you're going to want to make sure you keep your mouth closed - I kept mine open the first time I made a diving grab on the stuff and spent the next two days spitting/hawking little pieces of rubber up. It's a mistake you only make once.Still, it's a great surface to play ball on - bounces are always true and the balls come on you quick; whenever I played on the stuff, I always backed-up into (not so) shallow left/left-center and still usually found myself with all the time in the world. Is there any way to avoid this?Yeah, you're playing on FieldTurf. AstroTurf was just blades of synthetic grass with padding underneath. FieldTurf has ground up rubber in the mix. FieldTurf has ground up rubber in the mix.At the Vet in Philly I don't think they ever replaced the padding, it was as hard as concrete with the added pleasure of abrasive plastic.
