5minutesforfighting 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2007 Anybody have experience with these skates? Tried them on today and they felt like pure gold. Not sure how they'd feel on the ice, just would like to hear people's opinion's as to how they felt and how they held up in the long run. Thanks
Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted September 3, 2007 If they fit you properly.....then that should be all that matters. Everything else with regards to the skate can be adapted to on the ice.
duch 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2007 Exactly, fit is everything with skates. If you have decent support as well everything else is pretty redundant. Go with whatever fits best. Most skates nowadays all carry a lot of the same features at various levels. The Mission 85 is a slightly lower end skate but Mission usually gives you a little better bang for the buck. It will carry the features of some middle of the line skates so it's not a bad go.
Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2007 Sorry to bump this thread up. This was the only one that came up in the search that was Fuel 85 related. My sister sent me an online gift certificate for hockeygiant, and I just got a coupon for an additional 25% of mission fuel 85 skates from them. So all in all, it would cost me about $20 out of my pocket, including shipping for them. Can someone help me with a couple of things.I wear NBH Supreme 30 size 10, regular width. These have plenty of support for even a big guy like me. I've never tried on mission before, sizewise, in this model, what would fit close to the Supreme 30 size 10?Are they a deep boot? Are they stiff? Are they good value for only $20? Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 I wear an 11.5 street shoe, and size 10 NBH supreme skate
JR97 2 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 Mission sizes are shoe sizes. No need to drop down 1.5 sizes from your shoe size. The hard part is figuring out your true shoe size. I've got 3 pairs of shoes/boots that are all different sizes.

B-Nads 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 The other problenm with Mission is there seems to be some inconsistency in the fit between their own models. I wear 11 shoes. My old L series Mission skates were 10.5W. I tried on the 85's and a 10W seemed to fit well. I tried 110XP's and the 11W fit the best. IF you can't try a pair on I would go with 11's - that should be your safest bet. If you have a wide foot then get as wide as you can - Mission's width is narrower than CCM - similar to Bauer. The 85 is a fairly deep boot, and it is pretty stiff for the money...definitely stiffer than the NBH you had.

I was under the understanding that Mission have not run to shoe size for a few years now, hence my dilemaThey don't run true to shoe size and Justin has stated that several times on here. Size does vary with shoe brand, I wear a 9.5 or 10 depending on which brand of shoe I go with and fit in 8.5 skate comfortably now. The older Mission lines I fit a 9. They have modified many lines of their skates over the last few years by widening the toe box and such, and that's where my sizing discrepancy comes into play. Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 Would it be easier if I knew the blade holder size? I have 288 on my skates, so whatever size mission uses the 288 should be there or there abouts?Or am I wrong thinking this too?
Zac911 317 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 i would look at a 10.5. GENERALLY with our skates you go 1 size down from your shoe size ( your real shoe size- not a skateboard shoe ).

GENERALLY with our skates you go 1 size down from your shoe size ( your real shoe size- not a skateboard shoe ).The 11.5 was as measured in a shoe store when buying dress shoes. So you think a 10.5 would suffice?I usually am a big proponent of supporting my LHS, but this was a gift certificate, so thought I would use it since I got another coupon for 25% off. Shark#81 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2008 I just picked up a pr. of Mission's on clearance. 11.5's fit perfect, 296 holder. My size is a US 12.5 (right foot). I use a 296 holder when I build FM's for myself. I think that is a good indicator to use when selecting a skate. Overall I am impressed with the Missions. Didn't pay much. The Pitch adjustment holder is a great idea. This is the reason I got them - to test pitch against what I have. I wish I could have a pitch adjust on my LS2's.I've just skated on my little dry ice pad, but they feel as good as or better than my old Grafs did.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted January 20, 2008 the 10.5 should fit. Normally when you buy track/sneakers, you would have a little finger spacing when you kick your feet all the way to the front. For me, I'm pretty consistent in buying track shoes in size 10.5 (nike, brooks), and my mission skate size is a 9.5. Thats with a little minute gap at the front. I dont need to kick my feet anymore than 1/8" forward to feather the toe cap.any chance for you to get something to try?
