Rustyhole

new EDGE jerseys

Recommended Posts

I got this from the Phi Flyers site...

What is the difference between the authentic and replica jerseys?

The main difference between the authentic and replica jersey is the fit. The replica jerseys are not "form fitted." The design is the same between the two jerseys, but the fit is not. Authentic jerseys are worn by the team during the season.

My question is... if the new replica jerseys are not form fitted, what's the point?? I thought that's why they switched. And with all the hoopla over getting people to buy yet another jersey (some they haven't seen yet) not to mention the dreaded return of the 3rd jersey next year (also from the Flyers site) I think this is just a cash grab and am seriously reconsidering any future NHL jersey purchases.

Do you really want to see a form fitted jersey on a plus sized, beer chugging hockey fan? In all seriousness, the average hockey fan that doesn't play will typically not want the snug fitting jersey just to wear to a game or the mall. Just my opinion...

I don't imagine the authentic jerseys are THAT form fitting, I mean they still need to wear shoulder pads under them...on a regular sized person I think they would fit much like a normal shirt, whereas I find current jerseys to be exceptionally baggy when worn in street clothes. Shame really, I was actually looking forward to trying out the fit of the EDGE jerseys, but I for sure don't want to fork over the cash for an authentic uni.

Just another point of revenue. This little change means that teams will be redesigning their jerseys and logos, thus urging fans to buy new ones. Sure, there won't be a lot of enormous, fundamental changes to some jerseys, but they'll still sell because people want "the new one". Hell, why do you think the Madden video game series sells so well? Fundamentally, it's the same game year after year, but there are little changes here and there that make people want to buy it.

Authentic are made in Canada and the replicas are made in Asia.

So, the authentic are made by people earning 15$/hour while the replicas are made by people earning 1$/day. This is already a big difference.

Also, the elbows and shoulder are stronger on the authentic ones. Also, the anti-sweat material isn't the same in the replicas. The design is the same, but on some parts, they're not using the same material and/or the same amount of layers (elbows and shoulders).

Does anyone else have the impression these new jerseys are going to be abit of a fad and pass over? I mean seriously everytime I see one I just think "Cooperall".

I hope you're right.... I'd rather see the Cooperalls return than the butcher job *edit (Some of) these jerseys are turning out to be.

I was told that the rep's will have SOME of the moisture wicking material...but not be double layers like the authentic ones. That is the part of this whole thing that I am most interested in seeing. How light/dry these will actually stay. When Bettman dumped a bottle of water on one at the ASG and it just ran right off it...I thought that was a pretty extreme demonstration of what the "system" could do.

We've been beating up on them in the NHL area. Please continue any further discussion in that topic.
