Graf 604 skates

Recommended Posts

Ice season starts next week over here and i needed new skates.

After trying on several different brands and models i ended up with some (close out) Graf 604 skates. And i have to say i finally found something that feels at least similar to mid 90s bauer supreme skates!!

Can anybody tell me what year the Graf 604 came out? What current model replaced them? And how is the durability?

Next topic:

I love the modano/pm9 pattern but its not easy to find on cheaper (mid end) sticks over here in europe ...

And since its mostly the lie i like about the pm9, i think i could also use the p106!

Could any p106 user take a picture of the curve (down the shaft) for me?? I searched but the pics in older topics didnt show up anymore ..

thanks!

it fit like the 704 and the 703 with the narrow heel and narrow fit altogether, but just different materials. good pick up. The store i worked at, their was no such thing as closeout graf.

The p106 is very similar in shape but it has considerably more loft, so you will have adjust to that. sorry, i do not have any pictures of it.

The 604's came out in -99 and replace the 603's (which i had). However, they don't fit the same as the 603's. The 604's has similar fit to the 705's. Just different materials, and a little shallower boot.

If i remember it correctly, the 604's came in two different type of boots. One softer and one stiffer. The stiffer boot is marked x-stiff or extra stiff on the inside of the ankle...

I don't think Graf ever replaced the 604's.

I have a few teammates who use the 604's and they seem to hold up very well, (as with all euro Grafs)

thanks for the answers!

So were 6xx models grafs top of the line skates in 99 or did they already have 7xx skates?

They are not marked x-stiff but they feel pretty stiff, at least in the ankle/heel area.

for pics of the p106, go to nikebauer.com and check out the nikeid page. they'll have pics of that, and many other patterns there.

It says the p106 is a 6 lie!? Did they change the lie for 07/08??

I got some pics of mine if it's any help still....

I found the lie to be around a 5.5-5.75 or so. I find the P106 to be a little more heel than the PM9 and the blade to be longer as well as a bit more open.

from what ive read on here, the lies on that site are fucked. i.e. the p91 has a 6 lie and the p91a is the exact same curve with lower lie and nike calls it a 6 again...

Both the P91 and the P91A have the same lie. The difference is that the P91A is a true Drury clone while the P91 has a deeper curve.

thanks for the pics sc37!!

so the p106 has not the same lie as pm9? Is there a difference between wood and comp? the lie of my easton modano/forsberg wood blade was much higher than the lie of my one80 comp blade?!

The 604's were not grafs top end model, it was something between top end and middle end. So middle-top end. Still a very, very good skate.

The 604's model were made a long time after the 705's and 703's, but the 704's came after the 604's.

The 704's might be the replacement for the 604's, but im very unsure since the 704 is a full leather skate on the outside and the 604 has nylon. However, they fit the same... so...

does your 604's have tuuk holder, or do they have the KOHO excalibur/CCM e-blade holder. The latter is not marked x-stiff on the ankle, even if it is the stiffer version.

I stand corrected. They still should match the descriptions.. because on the site it says the only difference is the lie.
