TPS and Sportchek and Hockeygiant

Recommended Posts

I have read how TPS do some sketchy work for Sportchek with stickering pricepoint OPS with Response and Adrenaline graphics. However today I played around at my local Sportchek, and they had both the Response and the Adrenaline Control. The $129.99 Adrenaline was labelled C12C, but was made in China. It definitely felt lighter than the Response, and also lighter than the Sportchek green Synergy ST's (labelled at 450g). It was my understanding that the 'real' Adrenalines were made in North America?

Now, the Adrenaline Control C12C's that are advertised on Hockeygiant as well as some other online outfitters, are these 'real', or no? Are they just clearout new old stock?

Dont they have factories both? NA place for turning out pro stuff, and China for retail. In the end, one could maybe conclude that since HG is such a big buying power, they bought alot of Adrenaline's, which were at the time being made in canada. However, later in the production series, they moved things over to China, which is maybe where someone like sportcheck would get their stuff from since they probably bought later than HG.

On another note...I think that is highly unlikely, but if they feel good in your hands, and like the curve, go for it. Just make sure it has a warranty.

HG is the last place a mfg would ever give the shaft to in that regard...it easily makes up the bulk of their commissions...

Sportchek knows exactly what they're buying, TPS isn't trying to screw any dealer.

Sportchek/Forzani group in Canada also has HUGE buying power...national sporting good chain. They were able to sell Easton Si-Cores for $130 back when they were retailing at $250.

I don't think TPS is trying to screw their retailers, more likely that Sportchek has offered to buy a large amount of TPS stock IF TPS would relabel/regraphic them as something else (ie. a discontinued model). If TPS would do that for a large account such as Sportchek, I question whether they would do this for other similarly large accounts also. Anyways, this is good discussion.

On a sidenote, can you still pull the blade off of TPS' one piece sticks with some good heat like the old XN10's and Response +?
