So the lovely blackout rule is in effect for the HDNET broadcast and believe it or not, FOX West is broadcasting the INTERNET FEED on TV—complete with compression artifacts, horrible frame-rate, and out of sync audio. Classy way to start the season in one of the largest markets NHL.

Of course you should be blacked out, you're only 5400 miles from the arena where it's being played. Center ice is down here so I can't watch it except for the online stream.

Well, it's blacked out for the advertisers which I understand. What makes absolutely no sense is why FOX can't make arrangements to actually broadcast the event using a REAL television feed. Even more ridiculous is how disorganized the league must be (big surprise) if this is the kinda shit they let happen for the opening game of the season.

The fact that there are still a few days worth of pre-season games left to be played, also makes this two game series somewhat of a joke. Just imagine any major professional sports league not having their first game of the season televised, it wouldn't happen.

I watched part of Saturday's game on CBC; the camera work seemed a little "off". Maybe the camera guys had jet-lag?

The part I saw was pretty good.
