Christian custom composite sticks ?

Recommended Posts

It was mentioned to me that compro has considered the option but at this point they aren't doing it. It's not cheap to setup a mold.

seemed like it was with a video i watched on YouTube...showed how they made (and curved) the old CCM Vector 10.0 (orange one).

ill see if i can find the link

Do all companies make their sticks in a similar fashion to that? I figure the wooden molds are what probably make CCM/RBK retail patterns vary from batch to batch, but who really knows.

Yeah CCM's molding technique for blade patterns seems pretty cheap IMO.

If I get a piece of wood and a knife I could pretty much carve out my own custom curve based on that video...

the old video i saw that showed them making Sher-Wood woodies, they basically curved about 10 at a time in a big press...making just like a basic mid, toe, heel, etc. curve...then they showed the workers fine tuning the blade to an existing one...

I'll post the link when i get home

Ive seen that one. I understand for wood sticks. I was more thinking on the composite side of things. Ive seen the easton video, and it looked like they had some sort of metal mold. So I was just wondering. Forming around a wood mold hardly seems like the way to go.

Ya I just thought of that when I saw that you had posted. Of course it makes sense when you build your stick just like a wood stick...Im just slow.

SRI, who do you think makes the most consistent patterns and with what process?

I actually think CCM makes one of the best blades, I've mentioned it before but the pro stock only "thick blade" is amazing. It looks like the catapult blade but thicker, great blade.

Funny, the thing I love about the ccm blades are the thinness. amazing feel IMO.

edit- After reading SR27's post beneath me, I'd like to add that I have and love the Finnish (thin) version. edit-

Copy that. Remember though, CCM made in Finland (thin) is totally different from CCM made in Canada (thick). Been saying that when people were complaining about the original V110 which I loved. Apparently it´s still the same.

Edit: To stay on topic. Over here in Europe, Ferland offers composite customs. OPS and blades (made in China me thinks). Minimum 10 blades or 3 OPS I beleive. Ferland over here is held by the same company as D&R..forgot the name, though.

That video was pretty damn enlightening. I've looked at the CCM\RBK blades and wondered how different they are from "hybrid" blades like the Sherwood Axion or the TPS Crossfire... I guess the answer is they are not very different at all. They are just layers of material stacked onto a hosel.

I'm sure some people love them but I'd like to see what goes into a real composite blade like Easton or Warrior/Inno

Are there any Christian dealers in the Toronto, Canada Area. I'd like to buy some Torch sticks and get in on the free gloves offer.

Thanks

Going from their dealer page on the website, there is TORONTO HOCKEY REPAIR. Hope that helps.

That is pretty funny. I do like the thin blade but I think it's comparable to my beloved TPS blade which is more durable for me... The "thick blade" is pretty light for a blade that thick but dampens the puck like nothing else, even the stoned hand bunch will be recieving passes like nothing. The issue is that the blade isn't extremely durable and is ugly as all hell, it looks very noticably too thick for a composite stick... I'm talking older christian woodie thick.

After some delays with naming issues, the site is now active and ready for orders. There are a few kinks at the present time, but we are working to accommodate as much as we can. Please be advised that we do not claim to be "all things to all people", but we do have a fairly large selection of options with this two-piece program.

I ordered a 300 shaft during the holiday promotion but it's not listed on the site currently. Was that a special deal or will it be ongoing (the 300 shafts)?

The holiday promotion will go back on the site shortly. Our IT department is working on it now. They had to make room to advertise the 300 series.

I ordered a handfull of the new blades too. Are there any differences other than the graphics?

I've got a bunch of paperweights on the shelf here from the last couple years....and I threw several away before I started saving them. :-)

Did you break all of those blades off at the joint between hosel and tenon?

thats exactly what it looks like... if this happened to all of those blades, that may deter me from ordering some(which i was considering)
