Do the Sharks have problems?

Recommended Posts

Every single game that I've seen this season has been bad. Even their 2 wins don't look very convincing at all. The sharks DON'T PLAY PHYSICAL at all (Biggest team in the NHL). The players look like they haven't been paid since last season. I've watched a few games of other teams this season and I can't find a team that is playing that badly. There is simply no will from the Sharks. The stupid Sharks board is filled with fanboys who "simply wait and things will get better." This was the way they played against Detroit in the playoffs last season and they don't deserve to win games!! I would really like to see Ron Wilson get fired. The team is going nowhere with him. The Sharks don't have an impact player. (I don't consider Thornton one). I mean players like Pronger, Niedermayer, Alfredsson, Luongo, Crosby or heck, Travis Moen!! Very disappointing and I don't think they will make the playoffs this season. (At least they don't deserve to). Please, before you flame, watch a Sharks game and find some truth in what I said.

Youre too fair weathered. Remember when Ottawa came stumbling out of the gate last season? I wouldnt worry about it too much.

And trading Jumbo Joe for Pronger wouldnt be good for the Sharks, think back to when they DIDNT have him.

Thanks for the mature reply Zach. However, this is not the first time this is happening. 2006-2006 lost against Edmonton, 8-0 against Phoenix last season, Detroit loss that was a complete embarrassment etc2. It's time time to fix something and stop hoping that things would click by themselves.

btw, yesterday's home opening was a complete nightmare....

Yes I don't consider him an impact player at all and would gladly trade him for Pronger.

as a shark fan reading this just made me sick.

I cant tell if youre being sarcastic or not. Anyways, from the the example you have provided from last season, I can somewhat say that they made it to the semi's at the end of last season. Not too bad I would say. The Sharks problem is the fact that their defense is a bit suspect as well as Nabokov being shaky time to time.

On the homeopener note: They are just now playing it? What do you expect, they have been on the road for how many games? Thats like what the ducks went through, Europe, then 3 home openers in a row for other teams.

Vancouver was slow out of the gate last year as well, but look how they rebounded. Point being, its too early on in the season to start thinking your team is doomed, leave that for the Leaf's fans.

It's 5 games into the season and they have "stumbled" off to a .500 start, im pretty sure they have a while to pull it together and will be fine. And taking away Thornton would just be retarted. Cheechoo and Michalek would suffer greatly. Also, remember when Boston traded Thornton, that worked out well for them...

I think Thornton is an impact player but he is not my type of player to much blind centering passes and i think he is a bit of a pussy but that is just me he is a bloody good player but i see how people dont like him.

I thought most of their success last season was done with smoke and mirrors. They have a few good players, but not enough depth in talent.

Thorton not an impact player? Let's see, against Edmonton he had the game tying goal with 10 seconds left, which the Sharks lost later in a shootout. And against Boston he almost had the game tying assist with 30 something seconds left, but the Sharks lost it the next shift later on a claering attempt that hit the ref. Seems like those points are coming at critical times.

Marleau - nice until the playoffs come along.

Grier - Good at what he does, but that's playing solid two-way hockey and he's not going to have much of an impact.

Michalek - Not sure about him but I saw him whiff and tank some chances last year in the playoffs, which is the only time I see this team. Thank god.

Cheechoo - Literally nothing without Thornton being around.

The team is going nowhere with him. The Sharks don't have an impact player. (I don't consider Thornton one).

2005-06 San Jose Sharks NHL 58 20 72 92

2006-07 San Jose Sharks NHL 82 22 92 114

Going into this season, Thornton has played 140 regular season games with the Sharks and has 206 points. If you think that's not having an impact on the game you are a retard. Over the last three seasaons nobody in the league has more points.

And that other guy who claims Joe has too many 'blind' passes in front of the net..well I guess they are working out alright for him considering he has averaged well over 1 assist a game with SJ.

that would be the worst trade in the sharks history. MVP and scoring leader 2 years ago after being traded in the same season. Before the trade for him the sharks were on a 10 game losing streak. The first game with thornton they beat buffalo 5-2. Sounds like an impact playet to me

Marleau - Isn't a good captain at all, doesn't seem to motivate his teammates.

Cheechoo- This guy's a joke. He does have the best shot on the team without a doubt though. He needs to be spoon-fed to get goals.

Thornton- Pass and pray that someone can hit the net instead of the posts

Michalek- will never be as good as Getzlaf.

Erhoff- the 7th man on the opposing team cos he gives very nice turnovers.

Nabby- how many crucial saves can he actually make?

Ron Wilson - HANTA YO!

I can go on and on....

PS: I can't believe my 800th post is for bashing the Sharks :(

Marleau isn't that bad in the playoffs, but isn't that great.

I remeber before last year all everybody would talk about is how great marleau is in the playoffs. The thing is...he was never great. He would have HUGE games and then just do nothing, but everybody would remeber the huge games and the huge games would reflect well on the stat sheet. Every year in the playoffs he has one great series then one average or poor series.

Yes he might not be the best captain, but he is still a very good player.

sharks looked pretty good last night against the canucks ( in the second half for sure) i was actually pretty impressed as it was the first time ive seen them play this year and was expecting alot worse.

The Sharks will easily make the playoffs. No need for panic. They get to fatten up on the Yotes, Kings, Stars and a depleted Ducks team.

They have 1 star in Thornton & 3 pretty nice players in Marleau, Nabokov & Michalek. Vlasic is actually their best D man at 20 years old.

The problem is NO team toughness and not much heart or desire. They often play lackluster games then try and turn in on in the third.

Cheechoo may be one of the most overrated players in the league. The 3rd & 4th lines are suspect. The Defence below average at best.

OH NOES THERE"S ONLY 76 MORE GAMES FOR THEM TO TURN THINGS AROUND AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 7 POINTS IN THE FIRST 6 ISNT GOOD ENOUGHHHHHH.

Seriously, save the whining for the playoffs. Because the way Thornton plays in the playoffs, you might have a case.
