Got s15's when the season started, and are completely destroyed in less than 3 months. Every piece of leather has seperated from the carbon. Very comforatable skate though

exactly what happened to me.

dont get me wrong the skates were immense. Light, extremely responsive and oh so sweet and comfortable just wish they had lasted the year

Did you have those skates baked?

Did you have those skates baked?

yes

i wouldnt neccessarily say try again because alot of guys are saying there are no problems and that they are more durable than the 1500(which i had no quarrels with). They are amazing skates but like you said i cant risk another pair because of my personal experience. I have vapor XXXX's now so we shall see how they go.

i love easton skates and unless these vapors do a job on me and maybe even if they do i reckon the next skates i will actually spend money on may be the synergy 1500's again because i loved them. either those or some nice new sparkly model easton bring out before the XXXX's breakdown lol

My team just ordered me some vapor xxxx's so we will see how they work. Everyone else who has the xxxx's on my team are in great shape, hardly show any use at all so im keeping the fingers crossed they hold up..

What is Easton saying about this issue? Also what have they done about it?

IMO; There will always be cases of things like this with any product. How soon people forget the issues that were being had with the One90's when they came out. Never the less if the leather is comming unglued simply apply some Gorilla Glue or super glue and call it a day. You forget that the skates are made of graphite and cant be stitched. I've had mine since June and they have been tanks. The only place I'm seeing the leather pull away is in the high ankle area where there is alot of flex. Big deal, we play in a tuff sport that beats our gear up. Besides your sticks, skates the highest amount of abuse.

I'm now in my 6th month and haven't had any issues (probably just put the whammy on myself). I really like the skates so I hope I don’t.

Whammy it is! 3rd time on the ice after writing my review and I developed a problem. Thought I had just lost an edge on my left skate and could hear a clicking sound when I was coming off the ice. When I looked down I could see the carbon sidewall flexing out beyond the leather where it says Easton. I can run my fingers beneath the leather and feel the entire edge of the carbon side and the side easily pushes in and collapses. I’ll try gluing the leather back to the carbon and see how it holds up. I guess I’ll have to update my review on the durability of the skate, but will wait to see how well my repair works and lasts

^Wow, that's really unnerving. If people are having these serious problems on ice I can't imagine the issues the roller guys are having with S15s.

I was seriously thinking about trying these out before I saw this thread. :(

Granted that you shouldn’t have to repair your own skates that you’ve had for only 6 months, but I’m at least willing to see how that works out (really don’t have any other choice). What I find disappointing is that there was no prior indication that the skate was separating before it happened, as I take care of my skates, taking out the foot beds and visually inspecting the skate, holders, and blades after every use.

Mojo,

Sorry to hear about your missfortune. Try to use Gorilla Glue, it is the best stuff around. I have not had any issues with my skates yet but will be sure to post when and if I do.

If anyone from Easton is on this site please help us out.

Try to use Gorilla Glue, it is the best stuff around.

Gorilla Glue is good, but can take up to 30 minutes to set and the curvature of the skate makes it hard to clamp. I went the super glue route and the bond seems pretty good. I’ll get to skate on them for a couple of hours tomorrow and see how the repair holds up. More to follow.

I've always had bad experiences with the Easton runners. Always. So about two years ago I started using LS2 steel on all of my skates. So that's just my bit.

As for him, well, I think the Tuuk LS2 looks better on the S15 than the Easton towers do. :P

It's really just a personal preference thing.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm currently in S15's with LS2's. Not just saying everything blindly.

both custom+ and PITCH, I believe(I know PITCH will but I'm blanking on custom+ right now). You might need to widen the holes a bit.
